It was Friday morning at 8:37 and the West Lake Campground was already full, I'm not sure about the others but I know it's not any fun drving around looking for a place to camp.
It's disappointing to get all packed up and ready to enjoy a weekend of relaxation...
Only to see something like this:

DON'T GET YOUR Knickers WADERS IN A TWIST:
You can get your VERY OWN camping spot in Red Feather Lakes !
Several parcels of land between 1 acres - 3.5 acres are available in Crystal Lakes- now that's a nice size campsite! Some already have driveways, turn-a rounds , electricity, and fire pits. All you would need to do is pull in and start having fun.
When you are a property owner in Crystal Lakes you can get water for your RV/camper, there is a dump station, restaurant and laundry facilities too.
Wouldn't it be great to not ever worry again about the campgrounds being full? You can even leave your rig on your property for 5 months out of the year. That will save on gasoline!
It's too late to help you this weekend, but with a little advanced planning we can find the perfect camping spot for you.
~
This summer could be the best summer yet!
No more twisted waders, or worry about finding a place to camp...
and you'll never be caught by surprise again.

Cabins, Homes and other lands are also available.

When our little girl was about 4 she told her preschool teachers that she was allergic to broccoli. Of course she wasn't REALLY allergic; she just didn't want to try it. Later, when she tried it, she discovered that she liked it!
Human beings, little ones and grown up ones, believe we already know what we want or like,
but I find it interesting that when we approach something with an open-mind, very often we change our little I'm- allergic-to broccoli-minds and embrace the broccoli!
I was talking to man from out-of state recently that came to Red Feather to start looking for a retirement property. We met at the office to talk about the area, get to know each other a little better and decide how best to communicate with one another after he went back home.
He plans on being able to move here in one to two years. That day, he was planning on spending the day exploring the area on his own.
We talked about water wells, septic systems, covenants, road maintenance, subdivisions, bed and breakfast zoning, type of house and/or lot, acreage, the cost of electric poles and several other things.
"I'm not interested in a Subdivision or having neighbors nearby", he said - and that was his ‘broccoli'.
We talked about Colorado Senate Bill 35, that was passed in 1973 that allowed property owners in Colorado to "subdivide" their land into 35 acre (or larger) parcels without County Government oversight.
Since that time, at least in our area, we have many county approved subdivisions with varying lot sizes and other areas consisting mainly of 35 plus acre parcels.
I wanted him to know that even some 35 acre tracts are in a "subdivision" with private roads that need to be maintained, and why there might not be many 5 acre tracts, like he wanted, that are not included in some sort of a "subdivision".
At the end of our meeting he had a general map of the area and a few subdivision maps: Crystal Lakes and Glacier View Meadows.
I know he said he wasn't interested in broccoli a subdivision, but it doesn't hurt to go look, right? After all, he was here and there are many lots that have great mountain views and some even abut Forest Land.
I called him the following day to get his feedback, so I would know what areas he liked the best.
"Anything in Crystal Lakes (Subdivision !) or Glacier View Meadows (Subdivision !) would be great", he said. "It seems like there's a lot of space there."
"It just goes to show ya"; you never know what you might like, unless you give it a try.
Keep an open mind and embrace the broccoli!

Crystal Lakes Subdivision in Red Feather Lakes, CO is SOMEWHERE!
Wednesday was the appraisal deadline for a cabin I had listed in the Crystal Lakes Subdivision and they missed it. Apparently the AMC contacted several appraisers who turned down the assignment.
(In a way, that's a good thing. I've complained loudly about geographic competency in the past and if an appraiser is not familiar with the area, they should not attempt to appraise property here).
The appraisal delay, it seems, was due to the fact that the "PROPERTY IS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE"!
.....
I was good with it up to that point, but when I heard "in the middle of nowhere", I got a little cranky.
I believe Crystal Lakes is SOMEWHERE....
SOMEWHERE pretty special, in fact.

Crystal Lakes is a mountain subdivision near the Village of Red Feather Lakes, approximately 50 miles Northwest of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Property owners enjoy their mountain lifestyle; gorgeous terrain, abundant wildlife, privacy and the serenity of their mountain homes, cabins or camp sites. They enjoy fishing, hiking, mountain biking, riding ATVs, cross country skiing in winter, and a variety of other outdoor activities. To preserve the environment and serenity only electric motors are allowed on the lake.

All outdoor activities aside, I suspect many just enjoy being SOMEWHERE so beautiful.
Property owners might even get that easy, peaceful feeling of being in "the middle of nowhere" while sitting on their deck, walking in the forest or fishing on the lake and streams in the subdivision.....
But all of us know that we're really not "in the middle of nowhere" at all!

There actually is town named NOWHERE in unincorporated Caddo County in Oklahoma, zip code 73038.
Clearly, NOWHERE, OK is nowhere near the Crystal Lakes Subdivision in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado!
