Lyman Orchards Winterfest Approaches

Snow can be a ski resort’s best friend, give a kid the chance to try out that new sled, or just be nice to look as it sparkles under a full moon. But it can also throw a monkey wrench into the plans to hold an outdoor event, and that’s what happened last weekend when Lyman Orchards tried to hold their 39th annual Winterfest. This weekend is a different story, however, as the festivities are ready to roll at the 1,100 acre Middlefield, CT orchard.

The snow that had covered the grounds and parking area has been dealt with, and starting at 9 AM on Saturday morning with the Apple Barrel Breakfast in the Eatery the Middlefield location will resound with the sounds of laughter and merriment. There will be scads of things to do for the whole family, including free food sampling, breakfast in the Eatery, a fruit tree pruning demonstration, horse-drawn wagon rides courtesy of Foxglove Farm, a sled dog mushing demonstration provided by the Connecticut Valley Siberian Husky Club, and lunch on the Outdoor Grill.

The highlight of the weekend, however, is the Ice Wars competition, where five professional ice carvers will battle the clock and each other by creating a circus-themed ice sculpture out of one block of ice in five hours. At the end of that time, festival attendees will vote for their favorite sculpture, and the winner will pocket a cool $500.

The fun begins both Saturday and Sunday at 9 AM, and more information on the scheduled events can be found at the Lyman Orchards Winterfest web site. Lyman Orchard is located at the intersection of Routes 147 and 157 in Middlefield.

The theme of this year's Corn maze is the UConn Huskies Women's Basketball in honor of their 78 game winning streak. (Oh how we love our UCONN Huskies - they make us so proud!)

Portfolio Recovery Collection Deletion Letter 4

When it comes to credit repair; I often hear the question: "Does that stuff really work?" The answer is a resounding yes! In an attempt to document this claim I will be posting this week examples of successful results as they come in.

I am posting several deletion letters from Portfolio. It is best when you can use leverage by having multiple clients. What scares a collection agency more than a lawsuit? The answer is simple: a class action lawsuit! (insert chuckle here)

A blonde, out of money and down on her luck after buying air at a real bargain, needed money desperately. To raise cash, she decided to kidnap a child and hold him for ransom.

She went to the local playground, grabbed a kid randomly, took him behind a building, and told him, "I've kidnapped you."

She then wrote a big note saying, "I've kidnapped your kid. Tomorrow morning, put $10,000 in a paper bag and leave it under the apple tree next to the slides on the south side of the playground. Signed, A blonde."

The blonde then pinned the note to the kid's shirt and sent him home to show it to his parents. The next morning the blonde checked, and sure enough, a paper bag was sitting beneath the apple tree. The blonde looked in the bag and found the $10,000 with a note that said, "How could you do this to a fellow blonde?"
