Average sold price: $ 528,931 Median price: $ 342,500
Average list price: $ 565,777

I do find it interesting that Norwalk's sales were lagging after the vicious fall weather we had this year. The power outages and huge snow damage in the end of October into the beginning of November caused buyers to stay away, and sellers to pull their homes off the market in all of the surrounding towns. This should hopefully be a huge spring market for Norwalk!

Stay tuned!

Painting away the winter blues in Norwalk CT 06854

painting your home Norwalk CT 06854Have the winter blues set in yet? I know for me, as soon as the temperature drops below about 75 degrees, I’m ready for hibernation. This year, in particular, I seem to be suffering from an early case of winter doldrums and it hasn’t even snowed yet!

Having just come back from spending 10 days in beautiful Southern California doesn’t help this Northeasterner adapt well to the gray, wet, gloomy surroundings here in Norwalk CT. And with the days so short, my house feels so dark!

Anyone with me?

A major house renovation isn’t going to happen in my house anytime soon. The best I can hope for is replacing my laundry room walls that had to come down when we flooded during Hurricane Irene! (and will need painting!)

But there is potential light at the end of this tunnel. If you are like me, and don’t have the funds for a complete renovation, there are other ways to lighten your mood and freshen up your home within a reasonable budget.

Painting your Norwalk home is one of the most powerful decorating tools available to make a pretty significant change and improvement to a room.

Shannon Kaye, Color and Design Expert for CertaPro Painters, and host of the DIY's network "Fresh Coat", recommends fighting the winter blues by spreading some color — or maybe a fresh coat of white paint — on those walls.

"It's true," Kaye says. Paint offers the biggest decorating bang for the buck, "and it can change your entire room."

Want a quick and inexpensive way to change things up? Why not paint an interior wall in an accent color or paint something that stands out in a room like bookshelves, in a different color.

Now that I think of it, getting the skateboarder wallpaper border taken off my son’s bedroom walls and choosing a neutral, calming color for what will be my office, is lifting my spirits already.
