Golf in January . . . Not very Common in Connecticut
It's not very often that we can enjoy warm weather and a snow free view. It's rarer still for our golf courses to be open this early, or late in the season.
Yesterday, was that rare instance when the golf universe was perfectly aligned, with temps in the low 60's and willing friends.

Not many golf courses are still open in Litchfield county, but Crestbrook Park in Watertown CT is still open for play, and will be open until the first snow of the year or the end of January.
Crestbrook is still running their 4 for 3 special. This allows a foursome to play with cart but only 3 pay.
A bonus is a bonus and January Golf in Central Connecticut is a bonus.

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 7330 in Oakville will place luminaries throughout Watertown and Oakville on Christmas Eve. This is the second year for this event.
The auxiliary is hoping to have enough luminaries to go down Main Street from the Oakville green to the Watertown green. If this is completed they are hoping for the intersecting streets to be lit up as well.
Luminaries may be personalized in memory of family members, business names, pets, etc.
The VFW will be accepting donations for the luminaries, which are $5 each until December 23. Donations for the luminaries may also be made at the Oakville VFW on Davis Street in Oakville or by calling Catherine Wilbur at 860-274-5525 or 860-945-0547 or at Watertown Wicks, 653 Main St.
The event will help raise funds to support town veterans and their families.
