The owner of Portofino's Restaurant in Wilton CT did a really nice thing the other day. He shared with me some pictures of how the restaurant will look soon, when it opens. I posted yesterday some of the construction pictures, and now will post some fabulous pictures of how it will look done and ready for the public. I know that there are many from not only in Wilton, but also in the surrounding area, who are looking forward to its return.

Wilton CT 06897 Photo to Share January 2012

I was so impressed with the sunset and the power of watching it, so I had to take a picture to share. (Taken with my iPhone)
This is downtown Wilton, CT 06897 - taken from in front of the Village Market on the main street, named River Road, as it wanders along the Norwalk River. Across the way is a building that used to be Center School, just 40 years ago, but now houses many local businesses, and has the Town Green and Town Gazebo in front.

Meet James Quarello - Inspector - in Wilton CT 06897! at my clients' inspection!
A week ago, my clients needed to schedule an inspection here in Wilton on a condo/ single family home they had an accepted offer on. I recommended several inspectors, then stopped them, and said, " Try James Quarello- I have read so much about him, and heard so many great stories about his work - I think he's the man for you!"

James Quarello and I have gotten to know each other on Active Rain - through our blogging efforts, and a few phone conversations, - and we feel that we know each other pretty well.
The clients called James Quarello, and he was simply fabulous! Not only does he do a very detailed and lengthy report and inspection of every inch of the place, but he also was so clear in his explanations for my clients who are first time home buyers. He let them know what they needed to fix soon, and what they would need to pay attention to as the years went by.
I did not regret that statement - I would recommend James anytime for a great inspection. I may have another inspection coming up soon in Wilton, CT, and won't hesitate to recommend him again.
Our clients need to know that when we recommend someone for a job, they are vetted and we know what to expect. I also was able to recommend a painter, a carpenter, a plumber, an electrician, and a HVAC person today for these clients, and I am sure that each of these folks will live up to their reputation and charge reasonable rates and do phenomenal work.

Huge Storm on Belden Hill in Wilton CT
We just endured a huge storm on the east coast this past weekend. It was forecast to be a regular Nor'easter, but with winds upwards of 75 mph, and 7 inches of rain in a 24 hour period, it turned out to be much more. Belden Hill Road in Wilton CT was severely impacted, as you can see by the pictures of this large storm, with power lines down everywhere.

There are still homes without power, internet, or phone, and we are 5 days after the huge storm. We are lucky to live on a cul-de-sac off of Belden Hill Road, a major road, so our power was restored after three days. We were completely blocked in for those first three days.
Our fireplace and candles were actually pretty cozy. We had just purchased a fabulous flashlight lamp that works on LED bulbs and long-lasting batteries, so we got to read all evening. It has been a long time since I have read as much..... should we pretend to have no power occasionally?
The hardest part, but in a way, the nicest part of it all was having no internet or phone to keep the business of real estate going. A neighbor of ours on our cul-de-sac off of Belden Hill ran a generator occasionally, so cell phones were charged as needed. Today we have power and cable, but no phone. Who knows? Maybe tomorrow we'll have our phones. This huge storm will be remembered for a long time!

There are areas of Norwalk, Stamford, New Canaan, Westport, Greenwich and Darien that look like a tornado went through. Someone called it a "war zone." The area has been declared a disaster. Apparently, over half of Wilton was without power, and we were not hit as badly as some other towns.
