STORY & A HIKE: Fire Quest
A Family-Oriented Environmental Education Program

Come and experience the magic of fire as Justin Pegnataro of Two Coyotes Wilderness School shares a story of the quest for fire, and teaches how the Native Americans made fire without matches. This family program includes games, hiking across the street from the Library in the Alice Newton Street Memorial Park, and of course, fire.
Families with children of all ages are welcome -- parental supervision is required. Please come dressed appropriately for the weather.

BOOK DISCUSSION with Mark Schenker - Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

A book discussion with Yale University Dean of Academic Affairs Mark Schenker, at the Woodbridge Town Library. The topic will be the Big Read selection Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. After more than 50 years, Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury's cautionary tale of book-burnings and state-enforced thought control, still strikes a nerve. Join with others all across the Greater New Haven area in reading this timeless and engrossing novel. Add your voice to this lively discussion, led by literary expert, Mark Schenker!

Jewelry Workshop with Geralyn Tagatac Wednesday, June 18, 2008 @ 7:00 pm
A hands-on Jewelry Workshop. Geralyn Tagatac, of Geralyn Jewelry, will teach you how to design, string and finish a beautiful piece of hand-crafted jewelry. Participants will have the choice of making a necklace, or a set consisting of a bracelet and earrings. Using a variety of different beads, including semi-precious stones, glass and wood beads, and gold and silver plated beads, Geralyn will introduce you to several different techniques. You will be limited only by your imagination - let your creativity flow!
Class size is limited to 15, and registration is required. An $8 Materials Fee is payable to Geralyn at the program.
I took this class a few months ago with my niece, had a wonderful time and wear my necklace often. It's amazing how relaxing stringing beads can be.

The Art of Hand Tied Bouquets with Michael Derouin

Join floral expert, Michael Derouin, for this fantastic hands-on class. Michael's classes are an excellent opportunity to learn practical and creative ideas for floral design that you can use in your own home. Soon we will all (hopefully!) have beautiful flowers blooming in our own gardens - wouldn't you like to know what to do with them? Michael has years of experience and is a wealth of knowledge - why not learn from the best?!
In this class, you will design and create a hand tied bouquet of beautiful fresh flowers. This bouquet will be appropriate to place into a small vase (participants are asked to provide their own vase - so bring your favorite!) Please also bring your own pruning shears and/or cutting tools to class.
Class size is limited to 20, and registration is required. Michael Derouin, is an award winning nationally recognized floral and event designer. A materials fee of $15 (cash please) is payable to Michael on the day of the event.
