DC Local Events. Hello World! Happy Friday to you. Oh Sweet Summer. Where did it go? Many Kids have gone back to school. I know some parents are very happy for that. Maybe that explains why I don't hear too much noise in the neighborhood this week. Or see some teenagers walking around with their pants half off their ------. (You get the picture). And am I ready for the Fall Season? I don't know. But one thing I do know is today is Day 2 of the Localism Blog Challenge.

First I would like to give a shout out to my sister aka "Queen of Mortgages" aka "Former Washington Mystics Point Guard" aka "Woodbridge Mortgage Lender" aka"The Outside of the box lender" aka "My Accountabilty Partner". Chevy Chase DC Home Sales: First Quarter 2011 Market Report

Chevy Chase has been having a pretty decent year so far. Both the average and median sales prices are up compared to the first quarter of 2010. The number of homes settled also increased slightly, going from 19 last year to 21 in 2011.

The homes do seem to be taking longer to sell, although the average is increased pretty dramatically by 5 homes that have been on the market for over 200 days - and all at prices of over $1million.

In Chevy Chase, the homes come in all shapes, sizes and ages. Some date back to the turn of the last century, when people were building country homes to get away from the nasty Washington summers. While most of the homes are center hall brick colonials, there are also many bungalows from the Sears Roebuck house era and a sprinkling of mid-century modern.

The streets are tree lined, and this time of year almost every tree and bush is covered with blossoms.

Most of the neighborhood is an easy walk to shops, theaters and restaurants, and from the western section near Wisconsin Avenue, you can walk to Metro.

Speechless Sundays: Architectural Details

Speechless Sundays:

Architectural Details

I took this photo last week in front of an old center-hall colonial house in Chevy Chase that my office may be listing.

You don't see this type of detail in many homes here, and it reminded me of some of the detail I say on the old apartment buildings when I was in Paris.

When I saw it, it thought "Rats! I don't have my camera with me!"

But I did!

Right in my hand!

So I held up my handy little I-Phone and touched the photo app. And this is what I got!

And it's not the new fancy I-Phone either! It's the couple of years old model.

Have a great week, everyone!
