Bokeelia is located in the southern part of Pine Island. it is an island which belongs to a time long gone, and that si the way the resident like it. No, they do not want to be another Fort Lauderdale or Cape Coral. Nothing against these cities, but that is not what Pine island is about. Many areas of cape Coral are glorious. Life style in Cape Coral is exciting and modern. No question there, but Pine Island is proud to belong to the past. One thing for sure: you don’t mess with Pine Island residents. They don’t want to be a resort town. they don’t like condos. They want to preserve of the natural beauty of the island.Yes, they do have one stop light.Yes, they have a winn Dixie, yes, they have a few museums, yes they have a clinic, yes they have preserves, yes they do grow palm trees, yes they have homes on the gulf and on gulf access canals. Yes, they do have a golf course and yes they have outstanding homes on generous lots.
Don’t let it fool you though. There is plenty to do in Pine island. You can reach the beautiful center of cape Coral in about 20 mn. They are very close to the action of a very modern city but they are like a cocoon away from it.
Below is an example of a beautiful Key West style home in Bokeelia. Its a very well priced beauty of 1200 SF and even though its a short sale, it will move fast. Very fast.

You will find it on Pine Island, for one place. The entrance to Pine Island is the artistic community of Matlacha. St. James City is located the southern end of the Island and Bokeelia on the northern tip facing Charlotte Harbor. Definitely not Sanibel or Captiva and still wonderfully free of the glitter and glam, the gated golf course condominiums and the strip malls.
St. James City was established in 1885 by a group of sun-seeking New Englanders who brought their spruce-and white pine from Maine. The oldest survivor in Bokeelia dates from 1904 and today houses a restaurant, Cap'n Con's. Cap'n Con's has been the subject of an unusual investigation.
Allegedly, it is haunted. For more info, follow the link below.
