I never wrote about Sunglow Beach Resort before. Sunglow Beach Resort in Daytona Beach ShoresTechnically it is a condo-hotel, and they do not allow homestead, so it is a transient facility only, however it was built in 1985, much later than all of the condo-hotel conversions, which were built in the mid 60s to late 70s.

It is in Daytona Beach Shores, but it is too far south and, as many hoteliers say, there is no life south of Dunlawton Ave, and Sunglow Beach Resortis right there, south of Dunlawton Ave, the last road to the mainland, making the whole south piece of the barrier island a big dead end so much loved by residents.

It is directly north of Sunglow Pier with a popular Crabby Joes Restaurant. Recently on the South side of the pier one of the best and most expensive condo buildings in Daytona Beach Shores- 11-stories Ocean Villas was built, immediately creating a dis-balance, as sense of misplaced beautiful condo building in B location.

Sunglow Beach Resort in Daytona Beach Shores, a condo-hotelSunglow Beach Resort, which looked OK before, was not looking great now. But then one day I saw a construction crew, then the resort closed its doors and the crew started scraping off (sandblasting) the stucco. I asked the construction supervisor, and he explained that stucco was getting loose, and was a safety problem. So they used a bonding material, which they nailed to the wall at 8" intervals, and then covered it with stucco, but now the stucco is "armed". They did a good job with the outside entrance, put metal roof, nice columns, plus they changed their staple pinkish color to a more neutral one. The Resort started looking much better.
Of course, the repairs did not change the conditions of the units, and some are very dated, and would have benefited from updating, it is something that owners have to do on their own.

64 one- and two-bedroom units, some oceanview, and some direct oceanfront. Even though it looks more like a residential condo, this is a condo-hotel with a Front desk running until 5 PM.

Though it is very unusual, there are no units for sale at this time in Sunglow Beach Resort. It is probably because they closed the building for repairs for couple of months, so they withdraw. There were, however, 50 units that changed hands since 1997, with $45K for a one-bdr. unit being the lowest price (1997) and $289,900 the highest (2005) and 305K for a two-bdr (2005).
