My wife and I were sitting in the living room last Friday night wondering what we could do with our little girl the next day. We thought about the park, go to the pool, etc...it seems like we do those things all of the time. Finally, we thought about a petting zoo. I had remembered going to Uncle Donald's Farm when I was a little kid. I thought this would be a great place to take our daughter.
When we got there, our daughter's eyes lit up. She had never seen chickens and roosters before. She pointed at them and started saying "Buh-Buh" (her version of bird). All of a sudden, the rooster cocka doodle dood and she busted out in laughter. She had never heard this sound and thought it was absolutely hilarious!
When you purchase your ticket to Uncle McDonald's Farm, you get a little bag of corn to feed some of the animals. We started walking up and down and feeding the chickens. My daughter really loved having the chickens "peck" her hands to get the corn. After we finished looking at the chickens, roosters, turkeys and the swan, we headed over to see the rabbits. Now the rabbits are off the ground about 4 feet, so make sure your little one doesn't walk under the cage or they might get a little "doo" on their head. My daughter liked the rabbits, but my wife thought they were so cute, she wanted to buy one as a pet...as if we don't have enough to clean up as it is!
After the rabbits, we walked on over to the cages that had the Florida Panthers (maybe cougars, I can't remember). This was pretty neat. One of the workers was feeding the cats some chicken. Before you say it, I thought the same thing. The chicken is not from the farm, a couple grocery stores donate some chicken to the farm.
We also saw some deer, coons, skunks, otters, horses, donkeys, etc...It was really a great time. If you have the time, they also will give you a hay ride around the entire farm. You can also milk some goats as well!
I would highly recommend it. It you are looking for some fun with the kids, Uncle Donald's Farm is the place to go. You can learn more about the farm here: www.uncledonaldsfarm.com
Have Fun!

Call it a miracle, call it a coincidence, call it whatever you want, but today I had to choose between meeting people to list their house or going to see Sarah Palin at The Villages.
There really was no choice, I am a Realtor and I keep my commitments.
On Friday my sister and I went and got 3 tickets for "We 3 sisters". Turns out, 2 of us couldn't go. I had brought the tickets with me to church and thought it would be very easy to give them away. Lots of "yes" answers that turned to "no I can't go" once the other person was contacted via cell phone of course!
I went to the first church service and during the closing prayer my phone beeped softly. I thought I recognized the number and quickly picked it up and slipped out of the service.
The voice on the other end of the phone was not familiar but she said I saw your blog on Sarah Palin coming to The Villages and I can't get tickets! We have an autistic child and we need help for her, my husband wants to go but we need tickets!!!
With tears streaming down my face I told her I had 2 tickets in my hand she could have them, come and get them.
I just love the plans we make, thinking we are in control of our lives and then God had His plan all along!
The turn out was estimated at 60,000-70,000 people AMAZING!
