Orangewood's Diane Langmo notched her 500th victory with a win over Trinity Prep in a district semifinal Tuesday.

I've known Coach Langmo for 5 years now, as my step-daughter's played for her on both Orangewood teams and YMCA summer league teams. What have I seen from Diane Langmo? A class act.

Coach Diane Langmo is an encourager, an instructor and her teams' biggest supporter and defender. It was great to see her get her 500th match win over Trinity last night. Win #501 comes tomorrow night- as the Orangewood Rams look to be District Champions once again by beating The First Academy Royals.

Orangewood Christian (Maitland, FL)'s Diane Langmo gets 500th win (HS volleyball)

Orangewood Christian coach Diane Langmo won her 500th career match Tuesday night as the Rams defeated Trinity Prep 25-18, 25-20, 13-25, 25-14 in the 3A, District 5 semifinals.

"It's been a blessing to me. The girls through the years have given me so much," Langmo said. "It's been a great opportunity to be a part of so many girls lives."

Langmo is in her 21st season at Orangewood with a record of 500-170. She is fourth all-time in Central Florida in career victories and guided the Rams to state championships in 2005 and 2006.

Orangewood (17-10) will attempt to win a 12th consecutive district championship Thursday night when it faces First Academy, a 25-14, 25-17, 25-6 winner over Mount Dora Bible in the other semifinal.

Adrienne Czaplewski recorded 15 kills and five blocks for Orangewood, while Caroline Cone tallied 48 assists.

Trinity Prep was led by Claire Fenichel, who had 14 kills and 20 digs.

Saints coach Kathy Finnucan surpassed 500 victories in 2008 and now has more than 550, which puts her second all-time among Central Florida coaches.

"I remember when Kathy got 500 and I thought 500 was just so many and 'Would I be able to sustain myself as a coach to make it to 500'," Langmo said. "I still love it. The girls bring me energy."

Winter Park coach Stephanie Gibson is the area leader in victories. She surpassed 600 earlier this season.

Localism Challenge, Day #19: 2011 Orangewood Community Family Fun Day

It's hard to believe it's time for Orangewood's Community Family Fun Day again...

Last school year flew by, as did the one before and the one before- summer's done and school's rockin' and rollin'

Orangewood's Community Family Fun Day is great in a number of ways:

- It's fun

- It raises money for the school, which means less money in direct payments from parents. When a quality Christian education is costing you an easy $10,000/year these days, every little bit helps.

- It provides service opportunities for students that gain valuable life lessons from working hard- as well as giving back to their school and the community

- It's open to the public. This provides both Orangewood students and parents alike with an opportunity to witness to others who might not otherwise hear the Good News and get to know Jesus Christ.
