Being Bored is NOT an option for Pelican Bay residents!

This Hong Kong Orchid tree is in my "backyard" when I walk in Pelican Bay every morning. Naples has so many beautiful trees blooming at different times during the year. Southwest Florida is in a sub tropical growing zone, so it is no wonder we have so many exotic plants, trees and shrubs in Naples! The zoning in Naples mandates that all new communities must have a certain level of lanscaping even in new constructions. What a luxury to live in Naples!

I found a copy of my hurricane preparedness report and one of the first things on the list was food. O.K. I know the power will probably be out so I need food I don’t have to cook and refrigerate.

GEARING UP

I headed out to my Publix near me in Pelican Bay. The residents of Pelican Bay luxury high-rises, luxury villas, and upscale waterfront estate homes have pretty good taste, generally. So as these frantic, upscale shoppers hurried out of the store by I saw a number of popular items in their carts Evian water, canned tuna (water pack), peanut butter……

FOOD GROUPS

I don’t know about you, but if I am put in a stressful situation such as a hurricane I am going to reach for something chocolate. And dark chocolate was my pick. I don’t know the last time I medicated with a can of tuna.

And as for the water? Evian is upscale, and fat free but at I time like this when we all could be doomed, I think red wine was my refreshment of choice. Red wine needs no refrigeration and I think God created red wine for a situation such as a hurricane.

Every June, when they publish the list of hurricane names I make sure I am prepared. My list varies from year to year but it always includes Godiva and enough Merlot!
