The Ormond Beach Scenic Loop & Trail has been designated a National Scenic Byway by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The Loop runs along John Anderson Highway, Walter Boardman, Beach St, Granada and A1A and offers views of marshes, the ocean, the river, and thick trees and other natural vegitation. Less than 150 other roads across the country have received this designation.

There are 123 single-family homes currently for sale in Ormond By The Sea, Florida through the Daytona Beach area Multiple Listing Service (MLS). Asking prices range from $74,900 to $2,699.000. There are 19 asking under $130,000 and 28 asking over $400,000 with 7 of those asking a million or more. There are 21 that are in various states of lender ownership including short sales. Of the 16 homes that sold in September 2009, 8 were short sales or bank owned. A short sale is where the sale price is lower than the amount a seller owes on the current mortgage. The highest sale price in September was $210,000 and 7 of the September 2009 sales were $120,000 or lower.

Condo values have declined but not as drastically as the past. The 3rd quarter (July-Sept.) 2009 average condo sale price was $156,036 for a 2 bedroom 2 bath on the west side of A1A. That is $21,297 less than the 3rd quarter of 2008, which was $42,000 lower than the 3rd quarter 2007.
Volusia county property appraisal Morgan Gilreath has stated that overall property values in Volusia County, Florida are decreasing at an average rate of 2 ½% monthly. Ormond By The Sea 2 bedroom 2 bath condo on the west side of A1A year over year for the 3rd quarter have declined in value about 12%.
