PALM CITYS HORSE TALK

Marian Reins is an exceptional woman that lives in St. Louis, Missour and multi-tasks a business, family, and volunteers to care for horses at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch....50 miles away from her home. Marian is my guest and enjoy her story.

As a volunteer at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in Union, Missouri, I love all the horses, but my main love was Koty. He's a fabulous young Thoroughbred and one of the most affectionate horses I have ever known. Not a day went by that I didn't think of him.
I arrived at Longmeadow at 7:00 a.m. one Sunday, full of anticipation - I had been waiting all week to see Koty. I turned off my car, jumped out, ran to the door of the barn and hurried down the center alleyway toward Koty's stall. Then suddenly everything in my field of vision faded except one small green sign that hung from Koty's stall door. It read, "Adopted."
Many people at Longmeadow have had the same experience of falling in love with a horse, then arriving one day to find the green sign. It's the same feeling of loss that one experiences when a good friend moves away. Love gives these animals new life - sometimes love hurts.
For Koty, his new life was just beginning. I dried my tears and walked back to his stall. He greeted me at his door with his head held low as I hugged his neck. He gently rested his head next to my body. That was the last time I saw Koty. Everyone at Longmeadow hopes that the animals will be adopted by loving families, and for the most part it's a happy time when those days arrive.
Koty left Longmeadow. And we're still there - the staff and volunteers who are blessed to serve our animal friends. And you never know - someday I might be a Longmeadow volunteer who adopts a loving horse, one just like my friend Koty.

My Comment: I certainly can appreciate Marian's emotion. A horse's trust is built by consistency, routine, and love. They are like people, they can sense sincerity. Horses can be your best friend.

Many people have asked me about the distant from Palm City to the Atlantic. This is a very easy visual way to see that we are really just right there.

On the other hand, we have the luxury of country style living in Palm City and its Palm City Farms area. In the western communities of Palm City, we have Cobblestone, Stuart West, Meadow Run and many others. Of course we have private properties that vary in size...some have equestrian farms and others just enjoy lots of space.

In addition to my business, nature and animals are my passion. I volunteer at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch here in Missouri, where there are sometimes 100 horses being cared for at one time, trained and adopted out. It gives me an opportunity to care for horses and satisfy my hunger for nature. The trainer there is working with me to achieve some goals--to improve my riding skills (not that I have any) and to train using natural horsemanship methods. My son and I spent a summer on a horse ranch in Arkansas in 2005, where I learned about natural horsemanship. I rode English as a young girl, but I knew nothing of natural horsemanship. It was eye-opening. Carol, I will bookmark your blog. The snow of Missouri is slowly losing its charm. By the way, are there any horse publications in Palm City"?

Palm City Farms is blessed with many equestrian facilities.  I enjoyed seeing most all of them this past week.  An equestrian facility is almost like evaluating a home that you are selling.  What amenities does it have?  What was the purpose for its development? Luxury, function, size, location?  It's almost the same as doing a CMA for a home. After all is said and done, Palm City has something for everyone.  I am just really proud to have the most pristine facilities for one of my listings.

This is QUAIL HOLLOW FARMS.  This farm is at the top of the list in any other area.  This facility has it all, Luxury, function, size, and the famous word, location.  The facility in on 14.2 acres parrellel to Citrus Boulevard and Quail Hollow Street.  The large white Steel Arena and its crisp white PVC fencing makes a statement while taking the drive through the estate facility.
