Clifford O.Taylor/Kirklane Elementary School is having a school garden planting day on September 10, 2011 at 8:00 am.

School gardens offer opportunities for fun and physical activity while also serving as an important educational tool to help students understand how healthy food is produced and where their food comes from. Some research suggests that, when used as part of a nutrition education strategy, school gardens can increase knowledge of fruits and vegetables and influence behavior change among children.

come to this fun event, lunch will be provided, receive a free t-shirt, do some mural paintings, and do some worthwhile work for the children! Bring the little ones along, there will be rock painting and thing for them to participate in as well!

Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

The Art station( Bring your creative abilities)

The bufferfly garden

Sign in and food

The planting of plants and trees

The Construction ( handy-people!) for putting down the ground cover, putting together the raised beds and assembling an arch!

There is a task for everyone, and it will be greatly appreciated! It will be a fun filled day for everyone.
