Attackers Beware, this Real Estate Professional is Armed with Awareness in Safety!

How many times have you pulled into a parking spot, blabbing away on your Blackberry, just getting out of your car, lock it, without thinking about your safety being at risk? I know that I am guilty! Did you know the main reason a criminal attacks Person A over Person B is because Person A is not paying attention to his/her surroundings?

On Friday of last week, I had the privilege of going to a Safety Seminar/ hosted by the Martin County Board of Realtors. The Guest Speaker was Andrew Wooten, Safety & Security Consultant who does seminars for Realtor Safety, Identity Theft, to name a few. I had the privilege of listening to him briefly at a WCR District Forum in July.

In this class, Andrew mentioned that he has interviewed so many criminals, and the number one reason that they choose one person over another to attack, is that the victim wasn't paying attention to their surroundings. Criminals rely on the element of surprise. Andrew showed us how someone could get out of their car, immediately get physically picked up, and carried away into a van parked next to the victim's vehicle, never to be seen again. It's that easy, folks! To all my Real Estate Professionals… and everyone else out there, PAY ATTENTION......it can save your life!
