I attended a volunteer 2012 Grievance and Professional Standards Committee Members’ training session. The trainer was a representative from Florida REALTORS®.

All of us who attended the training, new and veteran agents were surprised; the following were not a code of ethical violations.

1. No disclosure of seller being a licensed real estate agent or related to listing agent is NOT a violation.

2. No response from the listing agent on making an appointment to show listed property or where to submit the contract is NOT a violation but a courtesy.

3. Listed property went under contract, listing agent can mail out Just SOLD cards even though contract may fail to close.

Never presume - research and find out before filing a complaint.

Holiday Travel Safety Tips

Thanksgiving and Christmas are around the corner. Many people are taking road trips to visit their families and celebrate the holidays during this time of the year.

Here are some Holiday Travel Safety Tips to ensure your safe journey.

1. Send your vehicle for a total check up before the long distance travel.

2. Check the weather before packing, so that you bring the right clothing for the weather while you are away.

3. Review your auto insurance coverage.

4. Remember to bring your prescription, snack and water

5. Things to keep children entertained e.g. books, games, singing, note pad to eliminate distraction and reduce hearing ”Are we there yet”

6. Cell phone charger, GPS, map, and important phone numbers including roadside assistance provider.

7. Emergency road kit: First aid kit, basic hand tools, flashlight and new batteries, jumper cables, gloves, hat & blankets, warning flares or triangles, extra warm clothes, small shovel, ice scraper and snow brush.

9. Buckle up. It is law and it saves lives. Children restrained car booster seat.

10.Obey road signs and traffic laws; do not use your cell phone while driving, for safety of you, your family, and other travelers on the road.

11.Respect commercial vehicles – trucks and buses. (Dangerous blind spots)

12. Keep vehicle locked, windows up and do not show valuable – GPS, bags and map.

13. Stick to the main road and highway.

14. Don’t pick up hitchhikers.

Holiday Travel Safety Tips

A Minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn’t find a space with a meter.

Then he put a note under the windshield wiper that read: “ I have circled the block 10 times. If I don’t park here, I’ll miss my appointment. Forgive us our trespasses.”

When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note, “I’ve circle this block for 10 years. If I don’t give you a ticket I’ll lose my job. Lead us not into temptation.”
