The annual art and craft show "Fall Harvest of Art" is taking place this weekend

Saturday, November 12th, 10 am to 5 pm and

Sunday, November 13th, 10 am to 4 pm

at the Weeki Wachee Springs State Park in Weeki Wachee, Florida.

Sponsored and organized by the Spring Hill Art League, the Fall Harvest of Art is a juried art and craft show with awards in several categories that every year attracts many artists, vendors, and guests from the surrounding area.

Why not start your holiday shopping right here? All art and craft pieces have to be original work hand crafted by the artist.

You will find many different items in wood, pottery, textiles, metal, and of course paintings in oil, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, as well as mixed media, photography and sculptures! Your gift will be hand made in the USA and support a local artist!

In addition to the Fall Harvest of Art show, the event includes all of the Weeki Wachee Springs State Park attractions including the popular Mermaid Show, Animal Show and River Cruise.

Admission is $5 for Adults, $3 for Youth, free for children under six.

The Spring Hill Art League is a nonprofit organization and the proceeds of the event will go towards scholarships to support the arts.

The Glen Lakes Country Club Real Estate Market Report: September 2011

The Glen Lakes Country Club community is one of the premier golf and country club communities in the Spring Hill and Weeki Wachee, Florida, area.

The Glen Lakes Country Club community is a deed-restricted and gated community located in Hernando County on the West Coast of Florida. The community offers 24 hour security, a beautiful clubhouse sitting high on a hill, tennis courts, swimming pool, fitness center, and pro shop.

The Glen Lakes golf course was designed by Ron Garl and offers a challenge to even the seasoned golfer. Many homes in Glen Lakes are located along the meandering golf course or back up to one of the many smaller lakes that can be found throughout the community.

Compared to the same time period in 2010 that saw a total of 29 sales, sales from January to September 2011 are slightly higher with 31 sales. The second quarter of 2011 was particularly strong.

Inventory of homes for sale in Glen Lakes has decreased from the beginning of the year. There are currently only 53 homes for sale in Glen Lakes down from over 80 at the beginning of the year. Median and average list prices have decreased as well.

Homes for sale in Glen Lakes range from smaller two bedroom homes and villas to large estate homes.

The table on the right shows the overall sales for 2011 to date as well as third quarter performance and Glen Lakes home sales for September 2011.

Median prices and average sales prices have increased throughout the year.

The lowest priced Glen Lakes home that sold in 2011 thus far was a 2 bedroom 2 bath maintenance free villa, built in 1990 with 1650 square foot of living area. It was a standard sale and buyers paid $68,000 cash.

The highest priced Glen Lakes home was a four bedroom, 3 bath home that was built in 2009 with 2748 living square foot. This home was offered as builders inventory and buyers at a list price of $420,000. Cash sales price was $350,000.

The majority of 2011 sales were cash purchases (21). Eight sales were financed through conventional loans, one buyer purchased their home with an FHA loan, and the remaining sale was private financing.

The Glen Lakes Golf and Country Club community is located in Weeki Wachee, Florida, near Spring Hill and just an hour drive north of Tampa. Tampa and Tampa International Airport are within easy reach via the Suncoast Parkway.

Glen Lakes Golf and Country Club Community Approves new Color Scheme!

The Glen Lakes Golf and Country Club Community in Weeki Wachee, Florida, recently approved a new color scheme for it's maintenance free villas in the Glen Hills area of the community.

Earlier this year, I sold this villa to Canadian buyers. The villa had its original color scheme of white with pink accents and tile roof that was popular in the 1990's when these Glen Lakes Villas were first built.

As the new owners proceeded to update the interior of the home as well as the outside, they discovered to their great pleasure that the home owners association at Glen Lakes Golf and Country Club had approved a new color scheme.

The new colors my buyers chose for their villa in Glen Lakes is a soft beige with cream accents - certainly a color scheme that is up-to-date and gives the home a modern appearance.

Currently, they are the first owners to paint their Glen Lakes home in the new colors! Everybody in the neighborhoods loves it and they are instantly recognized as "the people with the new paint colors!"

Surely, the Glen Hills neighborhood in Glen Lakes will change its appearance soon as more people select new colors for their homes as they repaint.

Where to get Good Food in Hernando County - Casual Dining at Bayport Inn, Weeki Wachee

The locals know where to get good food in Hernando County! The Bayport Inn in Weeki Wachee, located at the intersection to Pine Island and Bayport, is such a place!

Known for it's seafood and casual atmosphere, the Bayport Inn restaurant is popular for lunch and dinner and is large enough to accommodate larger groups of people. You can sit inside in the dining room or in the very spacious bar area and lounge, or you can enjoy the great Florida outdoors on the outside deck and Tiki Bar overlooking the salt marsh all the way to Pine Island.

The menu features seafood of all kind but also includes selections of beef, chicken, and if you are among the more adventurous, try some gator tail!

Weekends are a busy place at the Bayport Inn! People stop in on their way back from Pine Island Beach or boating and fishing from Bayport Park. The Bayport Inn is also a popular place for motorcycle riders.

Make sure to take a look over the railing to the canal that runs behind the Bayport Inn - but don't lean over too far as this water hole is occupied by the "Bayport alligator". No feeding of the alligator please!
