The Grinch clearly left his mark on the Paces real estate market in December. There were no new contracts written nor any new pending sales. The only closing was a foreclosure that sold for about one-fourth of the original asking price. With 15 available homes, priced from $371,000 to $8.9 million, the Paces neighborhood has not seen a pending sale since before August 2010.

Paces Neighborhood in Buckhead Ranked Among Safest in Nation

According to a recent report on Walletpop.com, the Paces neighborhood in Buckhead is considered to be 71% safer than American neighborhoods with only 3.78 violent crimes per 1,000 residents. This compares very favorably to Atlanta's overall rating of 13.06 and the American median of 4.69.

The report, which used data from Neighborhoodscout.com and the FBI, also revealed that the chances of being a victim of a violent crime in the Paces neighborhood are 1 in 265, compared to 1 in 77 for Atlanta. While Paces is safer than 34% of the neighborhoods in America for violent crimes, the neighborhood is 76% safer when it comes to property crimes, with only 7.42 crimes per 1,000 residents.
