The old homestead stands silently as a sentinel over looking fields and the pristine Etowah River.
For 11 years I have been driving down the road that the sentinel stands watch over. The old homestead is in Cherokee county . Near the Etowah river. It conjures up images of native peoples who no longer live on this land. It is in fields and was obviously a farm house at one time. Who were the people who farmed there and raised their family? A few years ago a for sale sign appeared on the land. The acreage that the sentinel stood watch over sold. What would happen ? Would the farm and the beauty of the land become a victim of sprawl?
One thing the farm had going for it was it was flat and the Etowah river. We are trying to keep this natural and beautiful river as pritine as possible. So New development went in.
The community became an Equestrian neighborhood. This beautiful executive home is 1.4 million and sits on 7 acres bordering the Etowah River
All around the large lots is a defined riding trail in this beautiful community
As you are riding these are some of the views that you see. Each home site is large and fenced in with the fencing you see in the picture. Behind many of the homes is the beautiful Etowah River
If you are looking to move to Atlanta and looking for that great country home. This community is beautiful and convenient to many areas of Metro Atlanta.
So the Sentinel stand over what was farmland. It has stood through flood, storms, and all kinds of weather for at LEAST the 11 years I have seen it. I like to think that the folks that now own the land are good stewards. They understand it's beauty and have not put in tract homes. They have used the beauty and respected nature in creating this community. I think the sentinel is proud, and happy, and that is why it still stands.
