Get Out And Vote. At Least You Are Not Shredded Waste!

American Flag

Let me introduce myself, my name is Chad and I am nothing more than mere shredded paper waste by definition. I was created by holes left in paper, and I became famous in the 2000 United States Presidential Election. Now it is my understanding that there are many forms of chads, there is the pregnant chad, the dimpled chad, and one of my favorites and probably the most famous....the hanging chad.

Now I could sit and wonder why my parents decided to name me after shredded waste, but to give them the benefit of the doubt, I am not sure anyone even knew what a chad was until the previous mentioned Presidential Election. I blame the good old state of Florida for that, and after beating my Georgia Bulldogs over the weekend, well the nicest thing I can say about that is ROLL TIDE!

Helton Creek Falls in the Mountains of North Georgia.

Richard Weisser - Coweta Fayette Real Estate - Newnan homes for sale: Real Estate Brokerage in Newnan, GA

Helton Creek FallsThe North Georgia Mountain region offers many waterfalls. One of the most accessible is Helton Creek Falls, located in the Chattahoochee National Forest just north of Neel's Gap on Blood Mountain.

There are actually two falls here, an upper falls that plunges at a sheer angle and is the taller of the two. and a lower falls that is easier to approach and although slightly less spectacular, is still a decent cataract worthy of a visit.

To get there; take U.S. 129 about 12 miles south from Blairsville. Turn left on Helton Creek Falls Road. The road is narrow and is only paved for about a quarter mile, so drive with caution. Continue on the winding gravel forest service road approximately two miles to the parking area.

From there, take the well marked trail only 1/10 of a mile to the Lower Falls, and then an additional 1/10 of a mile to the Upper Falls observation deck.

Nearby attractions include the Blue Ridge Mountains, Vogel State Park, Helen, Georgia, Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge, Dukes Creek Falls, Desoto Falls, Anna Ruby Falls, Brasstown Bald, Unicoi State Park and Appalachian Trail and Walasi-Yi Center.

To everything there is a season...Fall foliage photos from North Georgia.

Fall foliage in North GeorgiaTo everything there is a season, and
a time to every purpose under heaven
:

Ecclesiastes 3:1

Fall has commenced its annual color display in North Georgia. It's always been my favorite time to take photographs. We have had a few years of drought so I am not sure how good the color will be this year, but I always like to get out and experience the change of the seasons.

These are some of my first Autumn shots for 2008. In the south, the leaf period can be very long because we rarely experience early hard freezes. I have taken foliage photos well into December. But you never know what nature has in store, so you must move quickly to get the best looks at good color.

I will be adding many more photos as time allows, and hope to describe a lot of the North Georgia Region. These photos were taken near Blairsville, a small town nestled in the mountains.

I can't wait for next week, when I'll be taking another trip in search of autumn glory!
