Festival of Lights USA Illuminates Historic Buildings in Olde Town Conyers

Metro Atlantans will be able to see classic buildings in a whole new light as the structures are illuminated by world renowned lighting designers at Festival of Lights USA, March 7-8 in Olde Town Conyers, GA.

Produced and sponsored by Acuity Brands Lighting (parent company of Lithonia Lighting) and its partner, OSRAM SYLVANIA, Festival of Lights USA is a celebration of light as art, and is modeled after the Lyon, France festival. Twelve teams of world-renowned lighting designers will convene in Conyers much like they do every year in Lyon, to produce exhibits of light and color. Designers will use architectural lighting to illuminate the facades of 12 historic buildings in Olde Town, transforming them from ordinary to extraordinary.

Held for the second time in Conyers, Festival of Lights USA will feature live music, food, and amusements for children. New this year, Friday night is "Meet the Designer Night." At each building, attendees will have the opportunity to ask the professional designers questions about their creations, discuss lighting art, science and techniques.

"We had a tremendous response to the event held during the holiday season of 2006," said Bill Peel, LC, senior manager of Acuity Brands Lighting's Jim H. McClung Lighting Center. "We felt bringing the program back to Conyers just when homeowners are looking forward to the home-improvement season would be an even more effective way to raise the level of public involvement. We're very excited about the outlook for our most successful show yet."

Management of both Acuity Brands Lighting and OSRAM SYLVANIA say they believe in supporting such civic events that bring families together and continue to build and foster goodwill in the communities that the companies serve.

Festival Times: Friday, 6-10 p.m. and Saturday, 2-10 p.m. For more information about Festival of Lights USA, visit http://www.festivaloflightsusa.com/
