Congratulations to all of those who have worked so hard to make Evans and Columbia County such a great place to live. I feel it is a community effort from the leaders of the county, community organizations, and all of its residents working to keep Evans in the top ten. Not to mention we were barely edged out by our neighbor in North Augusta, S.C. which also has a lot in common with our county.
CNN Money ranks our Median home price in 2007 as $144,428.00 and our Median family income at $74,696.00. The secrete is getting out that this is a great place to raise your kids because of the school system we are very proud of and all of the other opportunities to spend with your family at the near by Clarks hill lake or on the Savannah river. We also have an outstanding recreation department for youth sports and well as for adults.
Columbia County is quickly becoming a place for military retirees who have lived in in the past serving our military. With the medical communities in downtown Augusta and the V.A. hospitals it make a great place to retire.
If your moving to the area, make sure you give Evans and Columbis County serious consideration.

The U.S. Army has approved activation of a continental U.S.-based theater signal command, to be headquartered at Fort Gordon.
The 7th Signal Command (Theater) will have its headquarters element at Fort Gordon, and will have signal brigades stationed on the east and west coasts. The ribboncutting for the Fort Gordon Headquarters in Building 21715, will be 10:30 a.m. Oct. 23.
The formal activation ceremony will be held in February 2009.
Brig. Gen. Jennifer Napper, 7th Sig. Cmd. (Theater) commander will be the third general officer commander at Fort Gordon. Currently, the commanders of the U.S. Army Signal Center and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center are one-star generals.
Napper comes to Fort Gordon from the Defense Information Systems Agency in the Pentagon, where she served as deputy director of Joint Task Force-Global Network Operations, directing the operation and defense of the Global Information Grid.
The 93rd Signal Brigade, which was activated at Fort Gordon in 1998 and inactivated in 2007, will be activated again at Fort Eustis, Va.
The second signal brigade to be activated as part of the 7th Signal Command is the 106th Signal Brigade, to be located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
The two brigades will be activated in phases, with a planned full operational capability by 2010.
By 2010, the 7th Signal Command Headquarters at Fort Gordon will have a full staff of 171 civilians and 68 military. The employees will be computer network defense, personnel, supply and other specialties.
The mission of the 7th is to operate and defend the Continental U.S. portion of the Army's global computer network, called LandWarNet.
The command will assure total global network access for all Signal Soldiers from the combat units deployed around the world and those on desktop computers to the White House Communications Agency.

Good morning.... Well, it IS morning! almost 1 am here.
I really hate getting stuck on a project that absolutely HAS to be finished before I can stop.
I have just spent the last 5 hours completing a project that I had already spent another 4 hours straight on last week. There has GOT to be a better way to check people's homeownership status than tediously going through each and every name on the county records! When you have 500 of them it sure would pay to have a better way!
Anyone know of an efficient way to accurately verify home ownership on a large scale?

OH! to have NO stress! THIS is my vision of rest and relaxation!
Now that I am DONE with that project, I can lie back and rest!

Sundays have to be my absolute favorite day of the week, especially in the fall and spring. There are so many great oportunities for relaxation. One thing that my family can typically count on is the arrival of the hot air balloons on Sunday afternoon. We were lucky enough to see one taking off a few weeks ago in a big field behind the Kroger in Evans. Somedays we see 2 or 3 floating in the sky over Martinez/Evans, but today we only saw one. We also saw a paraglider sailing high above the treetops today(brave soul). My kids' favorite activity usually involves heading to the Greeneway or the towpath at the Augusta Canal. Whether you like biking or walking, these are definitely the places to go. I believe the Greeneway in N. Augusta is about 12 miles from end to end. The paved trail winds through neighborhoods and at one point provides great views of the Savannah River. The Augusta Canal is a great choice for birdwatchers. The unpaved path along the Canal is the original towpath used to guide boats down the Canal toward the city of Augusta. It's several miles long as well. Here's to enjoying lazy Sundays in Augusta - I'd love to have you share your favorites with me!

Hello everyone! I have been offline for a couple of weeks handling the details of a BIG move!
I have left Century 21, Larry Miller Realty and joined forces with RE/MAX Augusta!!
Although, the Century 21 office I was with was and still is a great company, I feel that my business is headed in a different direction than that of the Brokers. At RE/MAX, I can be a lot more independant and grow my business to the new heights that I drive myself to attain!!
So, it is official.
I am excited and nervous all at the same time, BUT I KNOW that this was the very best business decision I could make! I have confidence that as a result I will be even MORE successful than ever!
