Sure, these figures are not enormous by any means, but consider that Jackson County has multiple MLS services and is also covered by GA MLS of which I am also a member. The Athens MLS does not make up this market as a whole. What this sampling from the Athens MLS does tell us quite simply is that sales are “up.” Even at the height of the market (or rather the bubble) Q1 of 2007 sales in Jackson County were at 52 units sold and still less than $10million in gross sales according to the Athens MLS. You see this kind of fall off from Q1 2007 in most areas of the country to Q1 2008. What you don’t see in most areas of the country is any increase, not even to mention a significant increase, in sales in ‘09. I would call a 25% increase significant.
