Hi there my name is Keith Kenner and I would like to share some information about the beautiful little town I live in; Hiawassee, Ga. When I moved to Hiawassee, Ga. in 1993 there were only three or four restaurants and two grocery store. The home building industry was moving at a normal and slow pace. Then in 1994 CNN made the statement that 'Hiawassee, Georgia' was slated to be one of the top ten retirement communities in the nation! The flood gates opened and the money and commerce was just gushing over the past several years. We now have between 10-15 restaurants and still have two grocery stores. Our population tripled and the housing market exploded. We have an abundance of new homes on the market and the market is expected to correct itself over the next year or so. The primary industry here is the health care industry, resort business, building, real estate and then retail stores. We did have a sewing plant that employed 200 people, but it closed about two months ago. The 65,000 sq-ft facility is still there with prospects of new business just around the corner. Hiawassee is a beautiful place with plenty of fresh air. The majority of the property here is held by the National Forestry Service(approximately 75%) which protects the area from being over built and harming our natural resources. We love to have visitors as long as they obey the local laws and don't leave a mess. Some folks come for the Georgia Mountain Fair a couple of times per year and others come in to camp out on our beautiful Lake Chatuge.

Lake Chatuge, one of the most scenic lakes in the Tennessee Valley Authority system, is located on the border of Northeast Georgia and Southwestern North Carolina in the beautiful Appalachian mountains! The 7200 acre reservoir is shared by Clay County, NC and Towns County, GA., with the damn being located near Hayesville, NC. Lake Chatuge provides numerous recreational opportunities, including boating, swimming, skiing, camping, hiking and fishing. Thirty-two species of fish inhabit Lake Chatuge. Smallmouth bass, large-mouth, spotted, white, and hybrids are stocked annually. Like many other lakes in the Southeast, Lake Chatuge was drastically impacted by the drought of 2006 but the water levels appear to be rising nicely this Spring! If you would like more information, maps, links, etc., visit my website: www.LakeChatuge.com

Towns County located in the North Georgia Mountains known for its beautiful mountains, streams, and waterfalls

The campus restaurant has been closed for months and Sharp Memorial Methodist Church opened their fellowship hall so meals could be prepared for faculty and staff while months of renovations and hard work was completed. The campus restaurant recently re-opened and approximately 500 people were treated to great meals at the all improved restaurant. Prior to the renovations, the dining hall looked more like an outdated hospital cafeteria. Alumni and faculty were impressed with the new state-of-the-art facility.
All the food is prepared in full view with salad, Italian, grill and other exhibition type stations. The dining area is clean and has a contemporary style. The menu offers a much healthier selection of food. Students can now enjoy various types of food throughout the day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Another great change is the restaurant is open to the Public! Dinner prices are $6.25, lunch is $5.50 and Sunday brunch is $7.35.
