Started in 1959 as a clinic, Union General Hospital in Blairsville Georgia is one of the favorites. Union General Hospital has grown into a state of the art hospital with a dialysis clinic, Cancer Treatment Center, and Nursing Home. It is served by the Glenda Gooch House which allows the families of patients to be near their loved ones while hospitalized. One of the most respected departments in the hospital is their Labor and Delivery ward. Expectant mothers and fathers from several surrounding counties choose to have their newborns arrive at Union General Hospital.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Labor & Delivery today as one of our “adopted girls” delivered little Miss Kaleigh this afternoon. You Moms will understand the term “adopted daughter”. That’s one of your own daughter’s BFF’s who spends lots of time at your house or vice versa. Little Kaleigh came into the world today at 6 pounds, 13 ounces and a little over 19 inches long.

The most precious gift even an “adopted gramma” could ask for on Valentine’s Day!

The Conservative Business Alliance presents an informational Town Hall meeting on the Transportation SPLOST issue scheduled for a vote on the July 2012 ballot. The meeting will be held in the Blairsville GA Civic Center on Monday January 23, 2012 at 6 PM and all Union County GA voters are urged to attend.

A panel of Union County GA Commissioner Lamar Paris, Blairsville Mayor Jim Conley and CBA spokesperson Patrick Malone will provide information on the Transportation Investment Act 2010 (the enabling legislation), the regional roundtable process to select the projects, the specific Union County GA projects that made the final list, the funding of these projects and the local road funding possible through this referendum.

After this short presentation the panel will be available to answer questions from the audience. Plan to attend to so that you can make a well informed decision when you cast your vote.
