About a week ago I had the pleasure of seeing a show at the newly refurbished Strand theater located directly on Marietta Square. What an absolute treat! Beautiful detail to the walls and ceilings. Comfy chairs. No matter your seat, the feeling is intimate. Even if you aren't a "theater" person, give it a try! You won't be disappointed!

It has been said time and time again in recent months that 80+% of the workforce in the United States comes from local businesses. We all must pull together and help the ones that play in extremely important role in our country's economic recovery. Frequent the local coffee shop, "mom and pops" restaurants, etc! There is nothing better than to see local businesses succeed in good times and especially the bad.

As we head into September, The Earl Strand Theatre on Marietta Square continues to provide quality entertainment. On Friday, September 10^th, Blair Crimmins and the Hookers will take the stage at 8 PM. Based in the historic Cabbagetown section of Atlanta, their music pulls on the addictive styles of New Orleans jazz. Blair Crimmins' sound is a unique blend of gritty ragtime and ‘20s and ‘30s swing with clever lyrics and contemporary style. The band has eclectic orchestrations featuring any combination of saxophones, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, accordion, banjo, drum kit and auxiliary percussion. Jeffrey Butzer opens with his piano-driven songs that connect French folk tunes with Danny Elfman compositions. All ages are welcome. Tickets are a very reasonable $12 and are on sale now. I have been frequenting a fairly new local restaurant in West Cobb called West Cobb Diner. This is a much needed addition to our dining choices! Great home cooking and wonderful service is what this new restaurant offers. What more could you ask for. Busy for lunch but worth the wait. Sunday brunch and nightly dinner too!
