About Milledgeville's Lake Sinclair

I recently had the pleasure a meeting a "local" artist. I have to qualify local, because Stephanie Scott is from Milledgeville, Georgia, but it's currently not her full time home. I was quite taken with Stephanie's art in the few minutes I got to look through some of it.

She's currently packing up to head to California (which is where she lives the rest of the year)

I also purchased a etching of a view of Lake Sinclair. I can't wait to get it framed and hung at my office. You all know how much I love Lake Sinclair and it's awesome to have met an artist who has captured in an etching that love that I feel in a view from her parent's Lake Sinclair home. I fell in love with it from the moment I saw it.

She also produces cards with prints from her larger water color flower paintings. The are amazing. Each painting also is accompanied by a story of the "flower" and the inspriration. I'm so excited about a Kroger only being 7 miles from my house and 5 miles from my office.

If you grew up in the rural south like I did it mean driving EVERYWHERE and still does. Some part of the county you actually need to get in your car to visit your closest neighbor... we host lots of farms here. But the closest super market has always been a half hour drive from my house. Which means in summer you need to take a cooler or you get home with runny ice cream and milk that doesn't live to its posted expiration date. So I'm super excited about a Kroger that will be out at the Lake Sinclair area.

I've read in the latest news article about the New Kroger that it will be adding 78 new jobs to Baldwin County. Over the past 5 years 4 or the 5 prisons and a couple of manufacturing plants have left Baldwin County so it's GREAT news that some jobs have returned. See all that equipment parked out there... jobs. I know the local surveyor and some of the folks who worked here. I'm also looking forward to a "quick" trip after work to the store when I need one.

I hope to share A little good news with you each week about the Lake Sinclair and surrounding areas. It's long been a wonderful place to live and this type of growth close to the Lake is just the good news I like to hear.

In today's financing market, some of the banks that previously did leasehold property financing have gone out of business. I've talked with several local lenders who are currently working on "broker packages" to submit to investors to re-establish this type of financing because Georgia Power owns many of the lots on Lake Sinclair and you buy the house, and buy the lease, but continue to lease the land from Georgia Power.

The great part about Georgia Power lease lots is size, many of them are larger and with lots more shorline than your average fee simple lot. For example, my new listing at 119 Webb Road in Baldwin County has 220 feet of shoreline.

Baldwin County Airport and Subdivision

I love to fly, I always have. One of these days I'm going to sign up for flying lessons so that I can drive the plane and not just be a passenger. But for now, I just ride. But only because I have to do so. I don't ride in a car with anyone, I insist on being the driver (just ask my husband ) who has riden cross country with me 4 times.

If you are a pilot and have a private plane you might want to consider a beautiful subdivision at Lake Sinclair that has an airport. Now you will not see any 747s landing here and there are no commercial flights in or out, but the airport information can be found here to see if your plane can fly in and out of the Milledgeville Airport.

The Airport Subdivision is on a beautiful part of Lake Sinclair located on north Baldwin County. The lake location is where Reedy Creek flows into the main body of the Oconee making for some of the longest and most spectacular views on Lake Sinclair. There are both waterfront and off water homes available in Airport Subdivision. The entrance to Airport Subdivision is just a mile from US Highway 441 in North Baldwin County. Shopping and schools are but a 5 minute drive away.

Prices of homes in Airport Subdivision currently on the market start as low as $189,900. for off water and there is a waterfront lot that is over 2 acres with more than 200 feet of shoreline that is cleared for a home and already has a dock and boathouse in place for $650,000. There are some very nice homes in Airport subdivision currently on the market both off water and water front right on Lake Sinclair. The Country Club of Milledgeville is just a short drive away as well if you play golf or tennis. Many wonderful restaurants are within a 5 to 10 minute drive as well. The Airport Subdivision has long been popular with buyers making resale chances greater also. The director is looking for donations to help pay for the banquet, which will be held the evening before the tournament and to help with the clost of t-shirts, banner and trophies. They are also accepting product donations for door prizes at the banquet. Door prizes will be given to tournament competitors at the banquet.
