Lost Mountain Park has a well run and Nationally recognized softball program. Fall Softball registration is currently underway. The fall season begins in September. Registration for Spring softball at Lost Mountain Park will begin in January with the season commencing in March. The West Cobb Girls Association’s objective is to provide a spring and fall softball program for girls from age 4 through age 19 years old living in the West Cobb County and surrounding communities. With almost 1,100 girls between the ages of 4 and 19 participating in West Cobb Girls Softball organization, it is the largest in the metro Atlanta area.

Youth Basketball is played in the Ward Recreation Center. Registration begins in September with the season starting in November. Adult Basketball is also held at the Ward Recreation Center at Lost Mountain Park. Cobb’s adult basketball program is offered in the summer and winter seasons. They provide different leagues which include Men’s B, C, D, and Church. The season consists of 7 games, plus a post-season tournament. Registration for the summer season is in May and league play begins in June. Registration for the winter season is in October and play begins in November.

Lost Mountain Tennis Center is Cobb County’s newest public tennis center opening in 2000. Lost Mountain has 12 lighted hard courts and a pro-shop building.

It is fantastic for small children as it has a shallow 3 foot area with a built in bench that runs around in the inside of the pool. That’s not to mention all the great attractions just outside of Stonebridge at Mud Creek. There are many shopping centers and restaurants within a close drive. Shopping at The Avenue at West Cobb is also less than a 2 mile drive away.

Mud Creek Line State Historical Marker is located just minutes away on GA 120 near the Helmswood Drive intersection, just east of Mud Creek, Cobb County. Mud Creek runs through the front of the neighborhood. The historical marker is to commemorate where Hardee’s intrenched line crossed the road at this point — position held June 17-19, 1864 by Cleburne’s Division after withdrawal of Johnston’s left flank from Gilgal Church.

Hollywood comes to Powder Springs Ga.!

For those of you who might not know it, the state of Georgia has a very large and robust film industry.  Outside of New York and California it is one of the largest film production states in the country.  Going all the way back to the 1970's the Georgia Film Commission has given incentives to film here in Ga and the result has been a ton of revenue and jobs.  All of Burt Reynolds "good" movies were made in Ga.  Deliverance, Smokey and the Bandit, The Longest Yard, Sharkey's Machine, and Cannonball Run are all Ga movies.  Some recent movies filmed here entirely or in part here that you may or may not have heard of   include The Blind side, Zombieland, Hall Pass, and The Change Up,Madea Goes to Jail, Fireproof, We Are Marshall, Stomp the Yard, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Driving Miss Daisy, The Gospel, Sweet Home Alabama, The Fighting Temptations, and Forrest Gump.

So with all the film activity it seems there are just about always movie crews somewhere.  But it is still a big deal when Hollywood comes to our little corner of the world right here in Powder Springs! Neighborhood Watch, a new movie starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, and others is currently filming in and around Powder Springs.  Of course for a movie titled Neighborhood Watch they need a neighborhood and in true Hollywood fashion there are actually using 3 neighborhoods that I have previously blogged about as the setting for the film.

Echo Mill, Amberton, and Oakleigh are all very nice neighborhoods here in the area.  All 3 have very nice swim and tennis facilities as well as other amenities likes parks and trails.

Between the 3 neighborhoods prices range from the low 200's to high 500's

Sign of the time I guess...

If you are homebuyer looking for a nice home in Powder Springs Ga this is one you should look at.  It's not my listing but I'll be glad to show you the home. I did sell the home the last 2 times it was sold so I am very familiar with it!  The last owner did a very nice remodel with kitchen cabinets from IKEA, nice appliances and fixtures, and good quality laminate floors on the main living level. The home is now a bank owned foreclosure but, it still looks pretty good from the pictures.  (click on the photo to see all of the pics)

Note: Peach Plantation does not allow rentals so this might not be the right home for a long term investor.  However it would be a great deal for an owner occupant or maybe even a good deal to buy and flip (yes, even in today's market there is money to be made)

Home Staging Atlanta - A Vacant Home Transformation - Before and After Pictures Included

So... here's what I did today. I took this vacant home and transformed it. I brought in the furniture and accessories (called home staging) and helped create some added warmth that was so desperately lacking.

Note: You'll have to excuse the before pictures as they were taken with an older camera. My Nikon D90 had to go into the shop and I, fortunately, got it back yesterday.
