So get out of the house, put on a little green and come celebrate. The St. Patrick’s Day Festival is Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 2-11pm. Don’t miss out on one of Atlanta’s biggest and growing St. Patrick’s Day festivals.

The festival is a celebration of Irish heritage enjoyed by over 2,000 people in previous years.

Atkins Park Tavern and Zucca Pizzeria are the hosts for this great Smyrna Market Village event and is always well planned and offers food, fun, and music for the entire family.

The festival begins at 2pm and runs until 11pm on March 17th. Irish music, traditional foods, vendor novelties, contests, and other live entertainment make this an ideal event for your family on St. Patrick’s Day.

Mortgage interest rates were unchanged last week.

What to Expect:

The big event of the week will be Friday’s Jobs Report. Employment numbers have been showing improvement for several months in a row. Will the trend continue? If so, home loan interest rates could move upward.

European economic concerns continue to be headline news at the beginning of this week. The 17 nation European economy shrank in the 4th quarter of 2011 and China just revised its future growth estimates lower. While Greece appears to have captured its debt bailout, many are stating that the Country will still default on its debt. These issues may help mortgage rates improve at the beginning of the week.

Hypertufa Cobb Master Gardner Presentation Design and make your own planting containers

The Master Gardener Volunteers of Cobb County will be holding a presentation on Hypertufa. Hyper what? Come to this Gardeners Night out and find out. Fred Wilhelm will be the presenter and this informative seminar will be free and open to the public.

The gardening event will be on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and will be held at West Cobb Regional Library, 1750 Dennis Kemp Lane, Kennesaw, GA 30152. Phone is 770-528-4699.

And if you need a space to garden, the City of Smyrna and Keep Smyrna Beautiful have created a wonderful community garden. The Community Garden, located at the new North Cooper Lake Park (4201 N. Cooper lake Road, Smyrna Ga 30082) is fenced with an 8-foot chain-link fence that was paid for with a $10,000 grant to Keep Smyrna Beautiful from United Parcel Service of America, Inc. (UPS).

With the help of IBM volunteers, raised beds were constructed from 2” x10” cedar lumber. Smyrna resident and landscape architect Sean Murphy, who designed the new community garden in Suwannee, has donated design services, renderings and technical advice.

The Smyrna Communtiy Garden has 98 plots of four different sizes:

10′x13 jumbo – fee is $195

Vinings Grove - Smyrna, GA is exactly what people are talking about when they say location, location, location! Less than a half a mile from the East-West Connector, and five minutes to I-285, wherever you need to go, you will get there quickly. On the other side of the spectrum, for those enjoying fine dining and shopping, there is no shortage of places to visit near Vinings Grove. A quick drive will get to Ivy Walk, West Village, The Village Green, Cumberland Mall, as well as a variety of neighborhood pubs and boutiques.

To get there take I-285 to Exit 15 (S. Cobb Drive); turn outside 285; turn left on East/West Connector; turn right on Cooper Lake; Vinings Grove on your right.
