The day will begin with the 2nd Annual Dogwood Dash--a 5k walk/run through the dogwood laden streets of Tallapoosa, sponsored by the Lion's Club.

Country, bluegrass, gospel, Christian rock and a variety of popular instrumental music will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue non-stop until 8 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., Country music star George Britt will highlight the double-barreled finale as he sings all the way up to the grand finale--the Possum Snout Shootout, a wild west street gunfight performed by actors for Rocky Branch Railroad & Old West Town. There will be two performances of the gunfight--6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The MC for the activites will be Veteran Atlanta country DJ Rhubarb Jones and Lowell White.

Tallapoosa GA is located just 4 miles north of exit 5, Interstate-20--the last exit before you get to Alabama as you travel west, or the first exit off I-20 if you enter Georgia from Alabama. From the north or south, you will enter Tallapoosa from Georgia Highway 100, from the east on Georgia Highway 120 or US Highway 78. The activities will take place on Head Avenue.

Proceeds will benefit scholarships, visual and hearing impaired, and the creation of a civic and activities center at the old Tallapoosa school.^*
