About Wailea's Makena

Debate over Makena Resort Plans

Mihaela Stoops: Real Estate Agent in Lahaina, HI

The concept proposed by Maui developer Everett Dowling covers aproximately 603 acres in Makena and is heavily opposed by individuals that fear environmental consequences, as well as endangering cultural sites. Maui Prince Hotel employees, along with other individuals worried about the state of teh economy, support this project as a strong source of much needed jobs.

Maui Wedding Anniversary - the top 5 things to do

Georgina M. Hunter R(S) e-Pro Maui Real Estate Sales: Real Estate Agent in Haiku, HI

(This is my entry into the TOP 5 contest suggested by Jo-Ann Smith.)

It's your wedding anniversary, and you want to celebrate a whole lot of years together, so what do you do? This year we treated ourselves to a trip to a Maui resort - the Maui Prince Hotel in Makena. It was a first for us, to stay at this swank hotel, and we had a great time. I would highly recommend treating yourselves to something like this on any special occasion. Here's my top 5 list, to enjoy the experience.

Maui Prince Hotel - Makena Maui Hawaii

#1 - Check-in to the resort as early as you can. Park the car and don't go anywhere. If you arrive earlier than the normal check-in time, just ask if your room is ready, and you might be happy to know that it is. I requested a quiet room, and we got a really nice ocean view room with lots of privacy. It was very quiet - all we heard were the birds!

#2 - Go to the beach and relax. Turn off the cell phone. Go swimming. Get some sand in your swim suit.

drinks by the pool - Makena resort Maui

#3 - Have dinner and drinks at the resort. There are so many options, why go anywhere else? We ate the award winning Prince's Court and had the steak and lobster combo... I can't believe it was so good for only $30. I think that's a secret that should be let out. I also can't believe I didn't take my camera... haha... must have been the poolside Margaritas that made me forget.

#4 - Enjoy a romantic sunset by the ocean. This was taken from the golf course where there's a new development being built. Nobody else was around.

Maui Prince Hotel - Makena Maui Hawaii

#5 - Get room service breakfast - that way you can sleep in and you don't have to bother getting dressed to eat. Lounge around and enjoy the room. Go back to the beach for another swim before check-out.

That's how we spent this past weekend to celebrate 79 years of marriage. I would say this was one of my Top 5 anniversary events of all time.

Now, how can I get back to that resort to spend a few more nights.....
