I am new to real estate this year. It is far from easy and you definately have to have the support, both financially and emotionaly, from your family and friends. Not that the financial end of things are a piece of cake, but I think the emotional aspect is even harder. My family kept saying, "You'll have your first sale, just give it time." I think I even started avoiding people so they couldn't ask if I had made that first sale. Then finally after 6 months, I made it! It put me on a cloud and put my emotions back together. I have had a few sales now, but I definately have a better perspective that it does take time and a lot of energy.

Some of the most recent news in our area has included a large furniture and flooring company coming to town, the reinstatement of the land purchase option by the ethanol plant looking at the possibilities of building a plant between Alta (4 miles to the west) and Aurelia, the work on the AWAYSIS Project and the new condos. There is also a rumor that there are 2 large companies looking at Storm Lake as a site for manufacturing and as a site for offices. Check back often for updates on these topics.

This first home is one of the most beautiful and ornate, of the Victorians in my area.  It has curved glass in several windows and a classic paint scheme.  This location is referred to as Victorian corner and there are several additional homes on the block and the adjacent block. The second picture is of the same house in the previous post but from a different angle.  What craftsmanship!

House to the north on Victorian Corner.  Last year on this block a grand old Victorian, that was in very bad shape, was purchased by a young couple they put in a lot of work and it is now a very grand home.  Pictures of that later! 

Winter Picture of our local area! Beautiful home in a beautiful neighborhood, just across the street to the south is another big ornate Victorian home. This home is one of the finer examples of this architecture, but these homes are found in most communities in our area. Check out the next post to see the Victorian home across the street.
