I took a drive north from Coeur d'Alene with my husband on a beautiful Indian Summer Saturday.  We enjoyed the bright blue skies and scenery on the way to our destination, the funky little town of Bayview.  Quaint and quirky, with a float house community on a spectacular scenic bay at the southern tip of Lake Pend Oreille.  We enjoyed a quiet, open air lunch on the deck of a floating restaurant. 

What a glorious day it was!

The weatherman is predicting sunshine and temperatures into the 70's in North Idaho later this week, just in time for the Taste of Bayview wine tasting on Saturday, April 17.

Bayview is the lovely little town that sits on the southern shore of Lake Pend Oreille. It's known for its quaint and quirky float house communities, and it's always a pretty destination for a pleasant drive. The event is being held at the Dromore Manor Bed & Breakfast. The Victorian manor and gardens will be open for public tours during the tasting.

For $25 you will receive an etched Bayview Centennial goblet and seven unique wines from Europe, South America and the United States.

The first session runs from 2:30 to 4 p.m. with a second tasting from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The Dromore Manor is located at 17216 E. Cape Horn Road in Bayview. For reservations, call 208-683-0936. Proceeds will fund Bayview Centennial events and the gift to the community.

Bayview is a waterfront community on the southern tip of Lake Pend Oreille, about 25 miles north of Coeur d'Alene. It is near Farragut State Park and affords a myriad of recreational opportunities, both on and off the water.

There are currently 14 waterfront homes for sale in Bayview, ranging from $195,000 to $800,000. There are no homes currently with purchase contracts pending. In the past 12 months, 3 waterfront homes in Bayview sold.

Of the active listings, $195,000 will get you a 1460 sf float house built in 1993. Here's the MLS description:

Of the 3 homes that sold in the last 12 months, the average sales price was $365,000, with a high of $500,000 and a low of $145,000. Days on Market ranged from 63 to 123, with an average of 92. Price per square foot of the sold properties ranged from $131.82 to $294.12, with an average of $195.44.
