Post Falls, ID

I’m sitting in the den of my home watching about 40 quail and six to eight pheasants eating among the bushes and trees in our front yard, which made me appreciate how great it is to live in North Idaho. And then I thought about Cabela’s in Post Falls, which is located just off Interstate Hwy 90 near the Washington/Idaho State line about 7 miles from where I’m sitting. The store’s 125,000-square-foot retail showroom is an educational and entertaining attraction (as well as a retail store) featuring a décor of museum-quality animal displays, aquarium and trophy animals interacting in realistic re-creations of their natural habitats.

This is a great place to take the family, the kids love to see all the animals that are on display. There is a café and a sweet shop with a great variety of fudge and many other sweets. If you are a hunter there is no end to the many supplies that you will be tempted to purchase. This retail store has been a great addition to the Post Falls area. Highland Park Estates is a beautiful, upscale golf course community on a bluff overlooking Post falls, Idaho. The Highlands Golf Course is scenic and pleasant, and the neighborhood is maincured and lovely.

Since January first of this year there have been 4 closed sales in Highland Park Estates ranging in price from $220,000 to $415,000. There are 3 sales pending on homes in Highland Park Estates, ranging in price from $210,000 to $450,000.

Highland Park Estates, while lovely and desirable, has seen a tough resale market these past few years of our troubled economy. With nearly 70% of local home sales under $200,000, buyers for these higher priced upscale homes have been hard to come by. When the sun is shining brightly and the crystal clear water is sparkling on the waterways, there isn't a more beautiful place on the planet to be than Coeur d'Alene, Idaho!

What a pretty backdrop the Spokane River was this weekend for the wedding of Randy Oaks and Harmony Conley. After their wedding at the Old Church in Post Falls, they traveled by sea to their reception at the lovely Spokane Riverfront home of some family friends.

Looking at these pictures taken by my sister, Kerri Thoreson, makes me smile! Once again I am counting my blessings for being able to live in a place that is just as pretty as a postcard!
