SHOOTING SPORTS BUILD CHARACTER & OPPORTUNITIES

The Powerhouse Real Estate Team Susan Brown & Kathleen Hale: Real Estate Agent in Twin Falls, ID

SHOOTING SPORTS BUILD CHARACTER & OPPORTUNITIES and prove to be stepping stones for greater futures. The athletes that are involved in shooting sports are self-motivated, disciplined individuals who respect their equipment and love their sport. They spend countless hours training physically and mentally. The various disciplines of the sport offer ample choices for athletes to find their niche (Shotgun, Small Bore, Free Pistol, Air Rifle, Air Pistol, etc.). The local shooting clubs and 4-H clubs assist to insure that Shooting sports build character & opportunities for any that show an interest.

Junior Olympic Finals Match

These athletes compete at various matches throughout the year in training for the coveted invitation to the National Junior Olympics competition in April that takes place at the USA Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. In order to quality, they must shoot above a set minimum score which is set by USA Shooting. If they score at or above this score they will receive an invitation to participate in the JO's.

We have experienced the fact that Shooting sports build character & opportunities first hand in our son, Will Brown. Will started shooting precision air rifle at age of 15 and qualified his first year for the Junior Olympics and brought home his first of 2 Gold medals before he switched to the Air Pistol. Will immediately qualified for the JO's with pistol and has held the gold medal podium spot ever since. 2011 will be Will's last year as a junior but these past years have proved so valuable to him.

The US Olympic Committee asked Will to move to the Olympic Training Center after his graduation. In 2010 he graduated from High School and now lives and trains as a full-time athlete. Will's most rewarding moment to date is his recorded breaking score at the Bavarian Air gun Championships in Germany where he broke the Jr. National Record with a 579 score.

Bavarian Air Gun Championships

Not only does USA Shooting cover Will's room and board, but also makes grants available for college and pay him a monthly stipend. So it is a great, great opportunity! His coach and the Olympic Committee look for great things from Will and we hope, Lord willing, that we will see him in an Olympic games soon.

So if you have a son or daughter not able to find a sport they excel at consider shooting sports. If it can happen to a young cowboy/farmer from Twin Falls, Idaho, it could happen to you!! And don't forget that SHOOTING SPORTS BUILD CHARACTER & OPPORTUNITIES for those who take it seriously and work hard.

BENEFIT DINNER & MOVIE

If you live in the Twin Falls, Idaho, area please join me for a BENEFIT DINNER & MOVIE for a friend.

The BENEFIT DINNER & MOVIE will be held Friday, February 11, 2011 at The River Christian Fellowship located at 3300 E. and Falls Ave. E., Twin Falls, Idaho. The dinner will start at 7 PM and the movie will follow at around 8:30 PM.

The proceeds from the BENEFIT DINNER & MOVIE will help with medical expenses for a young wife and mother of 3 young children, Jennifer, who has a rare kidney disease. She has been hospitalized many times and undergoes frequent dialysis. She faces future expenses for a kidney transplant surgery too. Another way you can help is to test to see if you are a match for her as she will also need a kidney donor. Expenses for the donor are covered by Medicaid or insurance as well. So please consider being a donor, not just for Jennifer but for all those waiting for that gift of life. The surgery is amazing now days and recovery time is fast for most. My best friend recently donated a kidney to her daughter-in-law and was out of the hospital in three days. She says I can give her phone number to anyone that has questions.

The minimum donation for the BENEFIT DINNER & MOVIE is $10 per person.

Not only will there be the BENEFIT DINNER & MOVIE but also a Barrel Racing and Roping Benefit in the near future. We have many wonderful indoor arenas in the Twin Falls area and are in the process of securing one of them. As a horsewoman myself, these are always fun and a good time is had by all whether you participate or not.

It is my hope and prayer that this Beneift Dinner & Movie will raise enough funds to cover Jennifer's portion of her current hospital & medical expenses and well as future costs. This young couple barely scrapes by and have nothing but each other. He works hard but she is of course, unable to work due to her illness. Their three boys are fantastic!

So, come do something wonderful to help someone in great need and meet some new friends while your here. If you can't make it, but want to donate, let me know as we will be setting up a Trust Fund at First Federal Bank in the next week or so.

Have a great 2011!

If an EECBG weatherization and retrofitting project is selected, an energy audit must be completed first in order to prioritize other activities.

We foresee energy efficiency block grant funds as a crucial component of pursuing energy efficiency programs within a town, city or local government.

Perrine Bridge Festival, Twin Falls, Idaho

Bill Young Realtor, Real Estate Agent: Real Estate Agent in Twin Falls, ID

Base JumperThe 2009 Perrine Bridge Festival in Twin Falls, Idaho kicks off September 11th and continues through Saturday with lots of activities for kids and their families. With a passion for helping kids, Nikki and Miles Daisher hope to build on the $156,000 raised since starting the Perrine Bridge Festival in 2005. The Daisher's motto is "A Bridge to Success For Kids" and with the help of the local Twin Falls community they are creating a bridge of financial support for children of the Magic Valley who have special needs.Base Jumper

A pediatric occupational therapist, Nikki recognized that many children, due to financial constraints, go without proper care and equipment. Along with her husband Miles, a record holding base jumper who in 2005 jumped off of the Perrine Bridge 57 times in less than 24 hours, the Daisher's are a couple of ordinary people who, through their actions, have created something very extraordinary for the Twin Falls Comminity. (Just a foot note to the record set by Miles...Hiking out of the Snake River Canyon on his own after each jump was approximatley equal to hiking Mt Everest).

Festivites planned for this years Perrine Bridge Festival include: Base Jumping Exhibiton, Kids Fun Run, 5 and 10k Runs, Kids Carnival, Food and live Entertainment, Kayak and Canoe Rentals (which I highly recommend for an awesome view of the base jumpers), lunch at the Outback Steak House and a Juried Art Exhibition and auction. Perrine Bridge Festival

The Perrine Bridge Festival will take place at The Twin Falls Visitor Center located at the IB Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls, ID.

Shoshone Falls, "Niagra of the West" Twin Falls, Idaho

Bill Young Realtor, Real Estate Agent: Real Estate Agent in Twin Falls, ID

Located on the Snake River in Twin falls, Idaho, Shoshone Falls, often referred to as the "Niagra of the west",stands 212 feet which is 36 feet higher than Niagra Falls. The rim of Shoshone Falls spans 900 feet in width. In the spring, prior to the irrigation diversion of the Snake Riverand especially after an over abundance of rain fall and snow melt (as was the case in 2009), you can expect to see a magnificent flow covering all 900 feet.

One of Twin Falls most popular tourist attractions, Shoshone Falls is more than just an awesome photographic opportunity. There is a beautiful park overlooking the waterfall (owned by the City of Twin Falls) that makes for the perfect picnic setting or backdrop for a wedding. With hiking trails and the Snake River Canyon Rim Walking Path easily accessible, walkers, joggers and hikers are frequent visitors to the park. Picking up the Snake River Canyon Walking Path at Shoshone Falls and heading down stream will allow for a gain in elevation to the top of the Snake River Canyon and provide for spectacular views. Still standing at the end of this portion of the walking path is the ramp that was used by Evel Knievel in his famous attempt to jump the Snake River back in the 70's.

After viewing Shoshone Fallsor taking a hike for a $3.00 per carload entry fee, feel free to visit Dierkes Lakefor more family fun like fishing, swimming as well as more hiking and picnicking. If boating is your thing, there is a launch ramp above Shoshone Falls where you can enjoy, Jet Skiing, wakebaording, fishing and lots of wildlife along the base of the Snake River Canyon walls.

Twin Falls park and Shoshone Falls are open year round although due to icy winter roads access may be limited. The scenic overlook is always available no matter what the conditions of the weather and there is no charge but your view, although still spectacular, is limited.
