Hawthorn Woods is a small sized village to the north of Lake Zurich and shares the same zip code. Typical homes are 4 bedroom on 1 acre lots with many built in the 1970's but in recent years Hawthorn Woods has had new developments with larger and more expensive homes but again mostly 1 acre lots. The Hawthorn Woods Country Club is a large Toll Brothers development which also has up market town homes. Some of the subdivisions are Brierwoods Estates, Bridlewoods, Walnut Creek Copperfield, Knottingwood Lakes, White Birch Lakes, Lochanora, Rambling Hills East, Rambling Hills, Thornberry Creek, and many more small subdivisions.

In the last 12 months there have been 53 residential sales in total of which all were homes. 5 of these were foreclosure sales, i.e. homes owned by the bank. 4 of the sales were short sales. i.e. homes owned by sellers that owed more on the mortgage than the home could sell for and sold due to financial hardship. If you want to buy a foreclosed home in Hawthorn Woods, you might want to consider other areas such as Kildeer and Long grove, perhaps areas of Barrington.

Currently there are 17 homes on the market in Hawthorn Woods Illinois that are distressed sales. Of those 1 is a bank foreclosures, 16 are short sales and all 5 are under contract. There is also a vacant lot offered as a foreclosed property. The disadvantage to many buyers trying to buy a short sale home is the period it can take to get a response from the lender. Newspapers, national magazines, and television news report on regional and national trends, but don't really do the best job of explaining the local real estate market in Hawthorn Woods, Illinois. The sellers of these 8 Hawthown Woods homes on average received 81.29% of the current asking price. If the property was priced correctly at the beginning, the sellers would have received closer to their asking price, in a much short time frame.
