Right across the street from The Groves of Palatine is another condo complex on W Wood Street. The Preserve Condos in Palatine Illinois were built in 2006 and I do believe there are 94 units in the two buildings. Just a short distance away from the Palatine Metra station yet not in the busy trafficked streets of the town center. You can enjoy the natural area and pond and there is plenty of open area to take a walk with the pooch.
Can you walk to Metra? Absolutely but perhaps not so much in the winter. It'll take about 10 to 15 minutes depending on your pace. You can drive to Schaumburg for shopping in 10 minutes or less and if you work in Motorola Schaumburg or Sears you'll be there in 7 minutes. I90 is only 10 minutes away if you want to go downtown for a day or if you work and drive/car share.
Condos in The Preserve are generally 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom with a single parking space in the underground garage. There are a few 1 bedroom condos and a few with 3 bedrooms. You can view all the available units for sale here. Prices of condos in The Preserve are currently $250,000 to $290,000. When looking at condos for sale in Palatine consider both The Preserve and The Groves at the same time.
