Yes, I said FREE! The Nazarene Community Center in Roxana, IL will be offering family movies for free on the following nights:

• Sept. 11th @ 7pm "Night at the Museum - Battle of the Smithsonian"
• Sept. 12th @1, 4, and 7pm "Night at the Museum - Battle of the Smithsonian"

• Oct 2nd @ 7pm "Ice Age - Dawn of the Dino"
• Oct 3rd @ 1, 4, and 7pm "Ice Age - Dawn of the Dino"

• Nov 13th @ 7pm "Aliens in the Attic"
• Nov 14th @ 1, 4, and 7pm "Aliens in the Attic"

When I was growing up, the popular hang out on Friday or Saturday night was the dollar show at Roxana Cine, one of just a few single-screen theaters left at that time. Many residents were very disappointed when it was announced in 2002 the theater would no longer be in business after providing local entertainment for over 60 years. The building was sold and then donated to the church next door. The church now operates the building as a community center. It still looks much the same as it always has, and I for one am glad it is being put to good use rather than empty and falling apart.
