Smithton Illinois is a small community apprx 15 miles south of Belleville, IL in St. Clair County.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.4 km²), of which, 1.7 square miles (4.3 km²) of it is land and 0.60% is water. As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 2,248 people, 786 households, and 605 families residing in the village.

The village has been growing quite a lot in the last 10 years. Some newer subdivisions in Smithton IL are Wildwood Lake Estates, Sand Rock Creek and Ledgestone on the south side of Smithton, and the Manors of Fieldstone on the northside of Smithton. Smithton is apprx 20 miles south and a 26 minute drive from Scott AFB, and it takes apprx Total Travel Estimate: 35 minutes and 22.26 miles to downtown St. Louis, MO.
