The homes in Historic East Urbana, Illinois are a combination of character and affordability...in an unbeatable location! This neighborhood is bound by Vine St. to the west, Main St. to the north, Glover Ave. to the east, and Washington St. to the south.
Many of the homes are nearing, or even more than, 100 years old. The mature trees and brick streets interspersed throughout the neighborhood offer proof of the area's age.
Within walking distance are downtown Urbana and Lincoln Square, one of the nation's oldest indoor shopping centers and home to the farmer's market during the warmer months of the year. Also within walking distance of East Urbana is a unique area of Main Street where you'll find an antique shop and a veterinary clinic among other small businesses that have thrived on the outskirts of this residential area.
Arguably the most important attraction in Champaign-Urbana is the University of Illinois, and you'd be well-positioned to reach this destination from historic East Urbana. Either you can ride a bike right down Illinois Ave. or California Ave., as many students and professors do, or you can hop on the bus which picks up and drops off on Green Street. There's little need for a car if the university is where you're headed.
If you've ever been to Champaign-Urbana, you may have noticed that many, if not most, neighborhoods are built around a green space; historic East Urbana is no exception. On the northern side of the neighborhood, you'll find Victory Park. This green space offers a sheltered picnic area, a playground area, plus plenty of space in which to run around. Homes surrounding the park have the added benefit of the views while all of the residents in East Urbana have easy access to this nearby retreat.
