Brendonwood in Indianapolis is like living in your own private retreat. This is one unique Lawrence township neighborhood originally planned by Charles Lewis. Brendonwood Common, Inc. was established in 1917 and encompasses 350 acres with approx 113 homes built anywhere from 1895 to 2008. Want a home with a large yard? The home sites in Brendonwood average just over an acre to 3 ½ acres. Some home sites actually measure in at almost 7 acres! How often do you see that in neighborhood smack dab in the middle of the city?
The architectural styles in this neighborhood vary just as much as the lot shapes and sizes. As you drive through the neighborhood, you’ll find traditional American homes, Tudors, typical Ranch style homes, even some with a contemporary flare all of which are custom built homes here in Indianapolis. Current home prices in Brendonwood range from about $346,000 to $820,000.
The neighborhood was erected as part of the “City Beautiful” movement which is why much thought and care was used in planning the community. It’s amazing to drive through as it doesn’t resemble your typical drive in Indianapolis due the hills you encounter, the dense trees, and even occasional areas of babbling water while making your way through the neighborhood.
The central entrance to the community boasts “The Mall” which is adorned down the middle with towering trees. The Mall also has a sitting area for you to take a breather during your walk or jog or if you’d just like to sit and enjoy your surroundings.
Looking for a neighborhood that’s more than just a conglomeration of houses? Brendonwood also has its own 9 hole golf course and country club equipped with a pool, tennis and basketball courts, and even a playground for the little ones (or the not so little ones). The country club holds numerous events throughout the year that appeal to all ages. Some of the events include a celebration of the annual opening of the golf course, “camp outs”, 4th of July celebrations, Halloween parties, among other events where you can either dress up or dress down depending on the occasion.
Worried about your commute or availability of shopping? Brendonwood is a short distance from Castleton Square Mall, Glendale Mall, and any other type of retail facility or service you could possibly imagine. It’s also just minutes from downtown and the North side of Indianapolis making your commute to work very reasonable.
Again, if you want the feeling of living in your own private retreat, but don’t want to travel 30-40 miles out of the city to do it, Brendonwood is a neighborhood that should definitely be at the top of your list.
