The trick....

We listed a home for sale about 4 months ago in NW Indiana that closed this week.

While Jeff was putting up the For Sale Sign in the front yard a neighbor with an inquiring mind walked over and wanted to know if the person living in the home was selling....Jeff replied with a smile - "Yes , Do you know of anyone who you'd like to buy this home & be your new neighbor ? :)

He just gave him a look and left.

Awhile later, the for sale sign suddenly vanished :0

However the showings remained frequent and offers came in. Finally, the relocating seller accepted, and a month later we closed.

The Treat

Internet ads don't suddenly vanish :)

We have sold many homes without a yard sign.

Some subdivision restrictive covenants don't even allow signs and the homes still sell

Our marketing is not a trick.

It is consistent, persistent, WORK that does not vanish but multiples by repeat efforts that are rewarded eventually with results.

Of course the home has to be priced right and in move in condition these days as well - we are Real Estate Professionals, not magicians :)

For the second year in a row, Taste of Home Magazine is bringing their Cooking School to the Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, Indiana. Tickets are on sale now for the cooking school held on Monday, October 12, 2009.

I attended this last year and I'm looking forward to going again for the

• Live cooking demos with top culinary specialist Dana Elliott
• Fabulous recipes and creative cooking tips
• Prize give-aways and free gift bags
• Top local vendor exhibits

The vendor booths are open from 1 - 9:30 pm. Showtime for the cooking show is 7 PM and the doors open at 5:30 PM. If you cannot attend the show, you ought to stop by the vendor booths from 1 - 9:30 for only $1.00.

The give-aways last year were incredible. They not only gave away grocery store gift cards, fruit baskets, kitchen gadgets, etc., but at the end of the night they also gave away the stainless steel appliances they used during the show. It included a microwave, 2 ranges, a refrigerator, and a complete dining table and 4 chairs. All the food they prepared was also given away.

See you at the Star Plaza Theatre for the Taste of Home Cooking School and maybe one of us will win a new kitchen appliance.

For the Young or Young at Heart, and for Animal enthusiasts, Jungle Jack Hanna's Tour called "Into The Wild" kicked off it's nationwide tour with one of it's first stops at our Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, IN.

As part of Jeff's Birthday gifts, I surprised him with 3rd row tickets:) He is an avid animal lover and I kid him about buying a farm when we retire, so he can raise as many criters as he wants! When we List Horse Farms or Dairy Farms or any Farms with Livestock,in NorthWest Indiana, I know he will be spending much time in the Barn, feeding and petting the animals, while I am left doing room measurements.. LOL

Having only seen Jungle Jack Hanna on the Late Nite Show with David Letterman previous to this, we expected to be the only adults in a theater full of children:)

To our surprise, although there were many families with young children present, Jungle Jack draws a big diverse crowd of adults ranging from workers from Local area zoo's as well as school teachers and quite a few senior citizens!

The reason he knows (and talks about) the makeup of who is in his audience, is that an hour before the show, he sits in the lobby and signs autographs, poses for photos with and talks to as many people as he can!

He is much more personable than the TV image we had!

And, the shows focus is extremely educational, while raising awareness of which species of animals remain endangered from extinction.

From the dozen or so rare species he brings along with him, (that experienced trainers handle), to the video clips of his many adventures to continents around the globe, the 2 hours with Jungle Jack Hanna went by in an eyeblink - and was very worth the ticket!

As director of his hometown Zoo in Columbus, OH, Jack even gave away free passes to a grandma from the audience that volunteered to come on stage and touch a python, even though she was scared!

If You have an opportunity to see one of Jungle Jack Hanna's upcoming Live Appearances in a city or town near you, we would highly recommend it!

Ashphalt Driveway Sealing by Handyman Staff LLC

We will call you the morning of or the night before your appointment if weather prohibits us from sealcoating your asphalt driveway.

Information on our procedures and some preparations for the home owners to follow.

Procedures:

• When the staff arrives they will knock on your door to make sure your cars have been moved and let you know they are there.

• They will prime any oil or gas spots and edge your driveway. (Note- our staff carry no type of pruning equipment. If you have any overgrown bushes, scrubs or ivy they will do their best to go either under or around them.)

• We will use a high powered gas blower to remove any debris.

• Apply a coal tar emulsion sealer. It will dry to a jet black finish and protect your driveway from damage caused by weather, gas, and oil. After the sealcoating is finished they will block off your driveway to traffic and let you know the job has been completed.

Facts:

• In 2 to 4 hours your driveway will be dry enough to walk on.

• You can put your car back on the driveway after 24 hours.

• If your pet should get sealer on their paws while it is still wet rinse with water as soon as possible.

• No one needs to be home for us to seal your driveway. If no one answers the door we will assume your cars have been moved and we will sealcoat your driveway.

Preparing for your driveway to be sealcoated:

• We recommend you move your cars the night before or the morning of your appointment.

• Make sure if you have an automatic sprinkler system that it is turned off. You may also want to check with your neighbor if you get run off from their system.

• Please remove any basketball hoops, large flower pots, furniture, or any other items that would hinder the sealcoating of your driveway. If you are unable to do this we will put them to the side of your drive. If the items seem to be in disrepair and we feel that they can not be moved with causing possible damage we will seal around them.
