Kansas Department of Agriculture had June Dairy Month - June is a “Dairy” Special Month in Kansas Kansas has about 300 dairies that produce about 50,000 truckloads of milk worth about $350 million. Kansas Livestock Association Dairy Committee Chairman Kyle Averhoff, a partner in Royal Farms Dairy was with Governor Sam Brownback to proclaim the June Dairy Month and speak out for support of dairy farming in Kansas. Dairy farms employ many people and help support the Kansas rural economy.
Kansas Ag Connection - Kingman County Becomes State's First ROZ Partner Kingman County Commissioners made a decision to partner with the state as a Rural Opportunity Zone (ROZ). They will participate in the state-matching program to repay student loans of up to $15,000 for college graduates who move to their county. Other Rural Opportunity Zone counties are Barber, Chautauqua, Cheyenne, Clark, Cloud, Comanche, Decatur, Edwards, Elk, Gove, Graham, Greeley, Greenwood, Hamilton, Harper, Hodgeman, Jewell, Kearny, Kiowa, Lane, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Mitchell, Morton, Ness, Norton, Osborne, Pawnee, Phillips, Pratt, Rawlins, Republic, Rooks, Rush, Russell, Scott, Sheridan, Sherman, Smith, Stafford, Stanton, Trego, Thomas, Wallace, Washington, Wichita, Wilson and Woodson.
