Well, it looks like Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction was wrong this year. The weather has been warming up and it looks like we’re going to have a great day in the Henderson, KY area for St. Patrick’s Day! Do you have plans yet for this weekend? As your Henderson real estate agent, I feel it’s my duty not only to provide you with reliable information about the Henderson real estate market, but also with ideas of fun things to do in the area. Here are a few things you can do with your weekend to get in the spirit, Irish or not!
1. St. Patrick’s Day Dash
Before indulging in some yummy, traditional Irish food, start your day with a run! Nearby Owensboro, KY is hosting a 5K/10K run/walk beginning at O’Charley’s on Frederica Street. The race begins at 8:00am so you’ll have plenty of time left over to enjoy your day. The $20 entry fee includes a free breakfast and commemorative T-shirt.
2. RiRa Irish Pub
What dishes come to mind when you think of St. Patrick’s Day? Corned Beef and Cabbage and Shepherd’s Pie? Soak in the atmosphere and dig into a delicious plate of traditional Irish food at RiRa Irish Pub in Evansville, IN. Stop by the bar for a Guinness to complete your gastronomical indulgence!
3. Hunt for Four Leaf Clovers
Hopefully the rain holds out on Saturday so we can enjoy the outdoors. Take a picnic lunch or a bit of Irish soda bread for a snack and head to one of Henderson’s beautiful parks. Make sure you choose a grassy spot to look for four leaf clovers. Good luck!
No matter what you do in Henderson, make sure you wear green! Gather with family and friends and use St. Patrick’s Day as an excuse to get outside and have fun. If you’re new to the Henderson area, this weekend will be the perfect opportunity to see Henderson at it’s finest. The annual Henderson Christmas parade has come and gone. This was my first and hopefully, not my last. As a team, the RE/MAX associates at RE/MAX Superior, REALTORS came up with a theme in late November: Homes for the Holidays. Now, I've never been a part of a float creation team before. I wasn't one of the elite at my high school that was asked to participate in building the class float or being in the parade. Needless to say, I was REALLY excited about this project! We are extremely lucky that Kelly Estes, the better half of one of our REALTORS, is extremely creative and talented. She figured out how to make the little houses and trees out of cardboard boxes and directed the artistically challenged (me) in the proper painting technique for the roofs of the homes. (No, Kathy DON'T hold the can in one place. Back and forth, back and forth, etc) LOL! It was great fun and worth the cold that I and others had the following week after our "craft day".

The day before the parade, we assembled and put the finishing touches on the float. I have to say it was a neat float. Surely we would get some kind of placement right? Well, we WON!!! 1st place in the corporate division!! Our first year in Henderson, our first float AND first prize! We were all so excited: giving each other high-5's and hugs. Then the parade actually started. What a great time! Even though is was very cold (20's) and we were all bundled up like eskimo's it was a blast. As you can see, we are all very proud of our float and have even talked about a bigger and better float next year!!

This is my first blog so if I seem a little timid-uh I am.
I am a Henderson Ky real estate agent. I have worked in real estate for 12 years but only moved to Henderson 5 years ago and we love Henderson.
Henderson, Ky is home to many famous people, WC Handy, John James Audubon, the minister that married Johnny Cash and June Carter plus so much more.
If you ever plan a trip to northwest Kentucky check out Henderson, Ky! It is a quaint town of about 25,000 people who still prefer the laid back type of life. When you want to sit in the park by the river, watching the boats go back and forth (yes even the Belle of Louisville, Mississippi Queen and Delta Queen make frequent stops here!) and stroll downtown to the antique shops and small business that are the heart of Henderson. Stay at the many Bed and Breakfast Inn's located on the river.
Abounding with night life activities, movie theatre's, restaurants and pubs, Evansville and Owensboro are just 15 minutes away.
Real Estate in Henderson is doing well. We are not affected like larger cities and states such as California, Florida, etc. Our average sale price is around $115,000 and average days on the market is around 110. The homes we have for sale currently range from at $699,000 estate belonging to the former Ellis Park founder to $15,000 fixer-uppers.
Have more questions about Henderson, let me know! This is fun and I hope to hear from you!
