Nestled just 3 miles southeast of downtown Metro Louisville lies the beautiful Highlands Neighborhood of Tyler Park.
"The park" as it was called, was initially developed starting in 1873. The area was so remote and removed from the remainder of the city that it was not finalized until 1910 with the last subdivision being built. At that time the restrictions for the area were so that all houses developed were required to sell for over $8,000!
Tyler Park is located in the neighborhood and was designed by John Olmsted, the son of the famed Frederick Law Olmsted of NYC's Central Park and Cherokee Park which is located just a few short miles away. Castlewood Park is also located within the neighborhood offering lots of opportunities for recreation and fun on a Sunday afternoon. City Center Mall is located within the neighborhood boundaries and offers grocery shopping, a library, comedy club, an independent theater and a huge asian buffet!
Some other streets in the Tyler Park neighborhood are Barrett, Beachwood, Tyler Park Avenue and Castlewood. The area is considered one of the safest area's in Metro Louisville
What the Tyler Park Neighborhood lacks in size, it makes up for in spirit with a vibrant and active Neighborhood Association. With access to parks, dining, entertainment and the Bardstown Road Corridor Tyler Park does just about have it all!
