Oh! Look at the little "Snowbabies".....in their own back yard in the snow. Well, they are not actually snow babies, but they are in the snow -They are so snuggly and they are "best friends" and they live for and totally trust each other too. They are with each other every step of the way. They are simply enjoying each other in the snow. Don't they just have the life? Did you get a chance to get out and play in your own neighborhood and frolic in the snow?
These two furry friends are named Jillie, she is the Golden Retriever, and Bela is the yellow lab. They are actually my daughter's dogs, and she really acts like they are her daughters... my daughter has a form of Autism, she is 26 years old and these dogs truly are her life! She lives for them and is very attached to them. The house we bought in Owensboro,KY was bought so that the dogs would have a place to go and so that our daughter would have her own space within our house. They have helped her in life too. Did you know that pets are great for children with autism? I must admit, these furry creatures adore her too! These dogs provide her with something that she can take care of and love and they love her right back. They love her unconditionally and would protect her to the end. And, I thought diamond's were a girls best friend?

Well let me first begin with this: this is all new to me too.
When I first came to Owensboro,KYso many people here and from other places asked me if "I tried the mutton yet." Well, being the city girl that I am, I had no idea what they were talking about, and once I figured out what it was, I wanted no parts of it.
I thought WHY would I even want to eat it? It just didn't sound appealing. I thought, Just shoot me!! But, then I got to thinking, maybe I should just have an open mind and with a little coercion from my husband on one of our house hunting trips, we decided to see what everyone was raving about.
I mean a Realtor should know what they are talking about, right? How can I tell people about something if I don't experience it myself, right? (I really had to convince myself here......)We ventured in to a well known restaurant for mutton that just happens to be in Owenboro,KY called the Moonlite Cafe one day for lunch.
We ordered the buffet so that we could pick and choose what type of barbecue we would try. There was the beef, pork and of course the mutton. I hate to admit it, but it was good. I am not a big barbecue lover anyway, but it was good. I could see what the rave is about. If you can't make a trip there, you can order it on-line! Go ahead and order it here at Moonlite. You an have it shipped right to your door, but make the trip to Owensboro,KY and try it first hand, and maybe you will like the area enough to go ahead and let me show you around our town of Owensboro and even show you a few homes for sale.
Apparently, Owensboro,KY is known as the "King of Barbecue in Western, KY" and Moonlite cafe is the restaurant where it is well known. I did a little research to find out about it. Apparentley, a long time ago, there were more sheep than cattle in the area so mutton became the meat of choice that was used in cooking at barbecues for community picnics and rallies and has been a tradition ever since.
There is also something called Burgoo soup, which I haven't tried yet, but once I do I will report on that too!
