Abita Springs Gospel Music Jubilee
Jun 6, 2010
The Abita Springs Opry in conjunction with the Abita Springs Friends of the Park will present gospel music for our second annual "Gospel Music Jubilee" on Sunday, June 6, 2010. The music will begin at 1:00 P.M. and continue until 7:00 P.M. at the Abita Springs Trailhead. Various forms of tradional gospel music will be highlighted by some accomplished musicians. Rex and Jackie Hall will kick off with their very strong harmonies offering tradional gospel favorites. The energy level rises when the mighty Supremes and the Rosettes take the stage. This group is continueing the great gospel singing tradition of the famous Clark Family from the Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Melanie Rainwater and her Country Gospel band were a hit last year and will take the stage folling the Supremes. Following Melanie is a new group to the Abita Springs Gospel Music Jubilee. The Unstopable Gospel Creators from New Orleans will present their high-spirited music and vocals. Ron Snow and the French Market All-Stars will perform gospel favorites in the traditional New Orleans Jazz style. The final and feature act of the afternoon are the world famous Zion Harmonizers. Admission to the concert is free, and all proceeds generated from concessions will be used by the Friends of the Park towards improvements to the park. The St. Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs and the Greater New Orleans Foundation are assisting the Abita Springs Opry in presenting the music.
