I still don’t know who’s in charge. Is it BP, or is it the Coast Guard?
I have spent more time fighting the officials of BP and the Coast Guard, than fighting the oil.
The boom is not working. Please don’t rely on the boom in Florida, unless they get ocean boom, which we said from day one, is the only thing that will keep the oil out. It’s a joke!
We have to find someone to put in charge that has the guts and the will to make decisions!
We’ve got people in charge that don’t know what they’re doing.
Thousands and thousands more birds will die, hundreds and hundreds of turtles and sea life, every day we leave that guck out in the Marsh.
Within a day we came up with a vacuum plan and we‘ve been begging to get it approved. Kevin Costner’s machine; I don’t care whose machine we use...We’ve got to suck it up!
There are overseas ships and I’m sure there’s some in this country. We’ve had people come up from all over the world to see me because BP won’t see them, with a pipe that will go down 500 ft and get those large areas of oil beneath the surface 10-50 ft. Why aren’t those ships deployed? We can get most of those down there.
It is easier to clean the oil off the beach, than it is to clean it from the marshes. You can’t get oil off the marsh.
You got to pull up to that marsh and see: there‘s
absolutely no life; everything is dead.
We will lose more coastline from this disaster in Louisiana, than we lost from Katrina, Rita, Gustav and Ike combined. We’ve already lost 20 miles of Passaluca. It is dead and as soon as the grass and the cane fall into the water, the land will wash away.
How can we sit here three weeks later and say that we’re doing everything possible?
It’s beside me and I don’t know who to blame anymore!
BP could fire all their contractors, because they’re doing absolutely nothing, but destroying our marsh. You could put every fisherman to work. This is an emergency. To work 20 minutes and take 10 minutes off? Would we do that in war? ‘Cause we’re at war here!
We’re letting the rules, the regulations, the contractors, BP, stand in the way of us saving our coast line!

48 single family homes are listed for sale
15 homes are under contract or pending sale, priced from $85,000 to $450,000
Based on the number of April sales (3), there is a 16 month supply of homes for sale in Belle Chasse
Year to date, there have been 11 single family homes sold in Belle Chasse, compared to 17 at the same time last year. The first time buyer tax credit has had little impact on the Belle Chasse market because the average prices are higher than most of the rest of the West Bank of New Orleans, pushing it out of the reach of many of those buyers.
Days on market for homes sold in 2010 has dropped dramatically from the 2009 average, currently standing at 50 days. Homes still on the market have been listed for an average of 145 days and a median of 75 days, so expect to see this number jump around as some of the older inventory sells.
Average home prices in Belle Chasse leaped up to $462,167 in April, mostly due to the sale of home in Thousand Oaks for $700,000. The average pending sale is well below that, so we’ll see this number drop off again by the end of May. Year to date, the average is $294,136, a decrease of 2.6% from the 2009 average.
Although Belle Chasse is one of the few areas on the West Bank where home values are exceeding those of 2005-2006, note that the average home sale price has been dropping since it peaked in 2008.
