About Saint Bernard Parish, LA

It's been a long time coming, but finally Chalmette in St. Bernard Parish (one of the hardest hit Katrina areas) has a movie theater of its own for the first time since the storm. Chalmette Movies opened over the summer and not only does it carry the latest releases, but also one or two films at a time aimed at the art house crowd and film connoisseur. These are movies we don't often find even in the city limits of New Orleans.

You can feel the difference it makes when the cinema is run by folks that are also fans of both movies and the cinema experience. We're happy to drive the extra miles to support this fine local business (and the fantastic restaurants that surround it). Congratulations to principal Ellis Fortinberry and his colleagues. The only time the festival was not held was in 2006 after hurricane Katrina devastated the entire parish. They expect over a hundred thousand people this weekend. If you love crawfish don't miss this one.

The location will be the government and civiv center complex in St Bernard.

The Brokers Tour committee held a meeting today instead of our normal viewings. In the meeting, a total of six different Brokers were represented. In addition, also in attendance were a home inspector and a contractor.
